    Applying the AF Principle

Thanks poppy! Yesterday I actually went AF for the first time since coming back here. Before that for about a week I was been cutting back significantly but still drinking daily. Looking forward to seeing where this goes. But the hard part is when I want that glass of wine and it is the only thing I can think about! I am working on dealing with those cravings and hope I can get to the point where they go away!!

    All the best to you!

      Applying the AF Principle

Well done on going af Frances hope its the first of many days for you. I know how you feel about only being able to think about a glass of wine thats where the af wine came in for me mad me feel less like i was missing out then over time I am not bothered about that. I always used to say I drank because I liked the taste but now the af wine and beer tastes the same to me as the regualer stuff bit I am not fussed about having it . So obviously it was more than the taste that i craved another good example of how I kidded myself about the power of al over me. Hang in there Frances if I can do this anybody can !!!. Diet update its going well if I can be af I can do anything !!!!

Keep going Sarah and Damo and keep me posted how you are doing !

          Applying the AF Principle

Day 5 here....hoping to hang in there. Being stuck home because of snow is usually killer for me - no reason not to just drink all day! So tomorrow will be hard but unless my husband bought some wine (which is entirely possible) I hope to be okay. I just need to not check to see if there is any wine. If I see some - that will really be tough.

And out for dinner with family this evening - that will be a challenge too. I do not drink...I do not drink...I do not drink!

Hang in there Frances you are choosing not to drink and could you not ask your husband not to buy any wine ???? his support will be a great help to you most of us cant do this without the support of their family and friends 9 our online ones on here as well). Why dont you mkae a positive plan what you will do if you do if you are stuck in with the snow, watch a movie read a book cook whatever keeps you away from drinking. If you choose to you can do this !!!!!!! make a good choice and dont drink Frances to day ! keep me posted .

              Applying the AF Principle

Thanks for your support Poppy! Last night I did not drink and didn't even really think about it even though wine was there at the table. My mom was very surprised to see me choose not to drink. So was I!

I haven't really told people of my intentions because, to be completely honest, I am not 100% sure what I am doing. I am one of those who's brain keeps telling them they can mod even though I've been trying this on and off since 2008 and its obvious, since I keep coming back, that it is not working and that I am not happy with AL in my life.

                Applying the AF Principle

Well done on not drinking last night Frances. I and most people on here are the experts on how to think you can mod and fail time after time. But we all have to make and come to our own conclusions in our own times. To go af needs a lot of commitment and resolve so if in your heart of hearts you still think you can mod ( even if past experience show you cant) you are reducing your chances of success.

Try not to think long term think of today and give it your full commitment and treat each day a new challenge and make a plan. At the end of the day its our own lives to lead as we choose, make a good choice on a daily basis and see the difference it will bring in a very short time !!!. Hang in there .

                  Applying the AF Principle

At the moment I'm not really thinking of modding again. But at the same time I have not fully committed to AF forever. So, yes, what you have recommended is what I am trying to do - living in the moment and not thinking long term. One day at a time! And you are right - I am already seeing and feeling the benefits of being AF. Nothing good comes from drinking...only bad.

I truly appreciate your insight and support.!

                      Applying the AF Principle

Ha ha definatley eat more puddings here to lead hence the diet !!! But I figured it was about priorotising in the early days i was determined not to drink so i said in my head no to al but a big fat literaly yes to chocolates and goodies !!!! But on a good note lost 4 and half pounds this week !!!.

Frances forever can we hope be a long way away but which of us knows live it by the day and leave tomorrow for tomorrow you are doing great . I am just off to bed so better not get started on the bad that drinking brings as 35 odd years of bad drinking crap would take me all night to post up. But its never to late no matter how old you are or where you are in your drinking or lofe to quit. I truely am as well as the worst speller and typer the least motivated person who gives up at the first hurdle person you will ever meet so if i can do this so can you !!!.

My bed is now calling my name will check in tomorrow nught guys .
