I am back for another day one.

    Hi Littleblue, Dila and Red,

So glad you all are here and ready to tackle day 1 again. I hope it's going well.

Just a few suggestions, things that helped me:
    • Change your routine. Especially during the witching hours which were 4-8 pm for me. Take a walk, watch mindless tv, or best yet, read and post here.
    • Stock up on alternative beverages. Drink lots of water. I really like some of the new flavored waters - Walgreen's are great, especially the Peach flavor and the coconut/pineapple if you like that sort of thing.
    • Work your plan - mine was, and still is, a work in progress.Read as much as you can about al addiction. If listening is more your style, check out the podcast subscription called The Bubble Hour. I learned about this from others here on MWO and listen to it while I take a walk (multi-tasking, ha! Something I would never be able to do while I was drinking.)Take up a new hobby. I tried knitting and made a BIG potholder . Always wanted to learn to play the harmonica - that's next. You can learn how to do most anything on You Tube

Hope these ideas help or spur other ideas for you. We're all in this together and can get this job done!

    Hugs to you all.
    Mary Lou

Back on day one but I am fed up with this roller coaster.

Day one for me too. So glad I finally came back to MWO. I am ALWAYS in denial. Mary Lou mentioned some hobbies and alternative drinks and also the podcast which I will try. I have started knitting, playing the keyboard and joined a gym.

Seems like many on this thread are starting out yet again on their day one. When will we get it?? I just wish I could stay as strong every day as I feel on my day ones.

I am starting to cut and paste good suggestions, motivational and inspirational words from here and other places into a document I can refer to when I feel weak.

Hope you are all doing well and if you are in a part of the world where spring has sprung (or is attempting to spring) then let's use that as our symbolic new beginning!!

Just noticed my signature line which I DON'T want to change so I'd better get with the program!

Just thinking out loud here, Sober - do we get it and then stop drinking, or do we stop drinking and then get it? Sort of a chicken and egg situation, if you want. I think that in my case I got it only after
I had stopped - simply because I had some time and distance away from the bottle(s and more bottles). As I said, I'm really just thinking out loud here, but perhaps a different perspective on things can help.

I am back for another day one.

Hi all, I am ending my first week AF and wow this is the first non- hung over Saturday since being pregnant with my children! Not that it's been easy but I just want to share with you guys something that has helped me. I tend to be a guinea pig with myself with supplements, I try a whole lot of different combinations to see if something will work. I have tried Kudzu, glutamine, baclofen, and just recently Campral. The Campral worked slightly for me so I stared looking up it's ingredients, one of which is Taurine. Well to my surprise Taurine is in a deficiency in most alcohol abusers. I was also taking Magnesium for anxiety, I switched my magnesium to Mg Taurate (contains taurine-- this helps to bring the Mg to the cells quicker and less stomach issues). Anyway I decided to take the Mg Taurate 2x daily, Niacin( inositol hexanicotinate) 2x daily and then added a capsule of Taurine once a day. Well I'm not suggesting that you all try this but Holy Crap, yesterday not even one craving! Not one! Even during my witching hours of 7-10! Even when my husband came home with a bottle of wine ( he says he wants to help but is definately an enabler) and my sleep is great! Even if I wake at night I fall right back to sleep. I know it is only week one but for once I have a glimmer of hope!
I just figured I'd share that,
                Have a great day!

Little BB, your post interests me greatly as the lack of sleep when AF gets to me. Congrats on a full week AF!

So is the Mg Taurate different than capsule of Taurine? Guess it is. Is it easy to find? Did you experience any hot flashes from the Niacin?
