    Relapse Prevention

    Hi, Everyone:

I was listening to the Bubble Hour podcast today (thanks for the referral, NoSugar), and came across their episode on relapse prevention. They go through the 11 steps of relapse (which end in #11, drinking), and talk about changing thinking and changing actions to avoid relapse. The show ends with three stories of relapse and what they learned from them. It was a good reminder to me to keep working at staying sober even when I am tired of focusing on alcohol. This affliction does not go away.

Also, they emphasize the idea of surrender beyond alcohol - understanding that we can't control everything. I seem to recognize a lot of us type A control freaks here, and that has been a powerful lesson (that I am still learning) in my life.

I was feeling funky, put the podcast on my phone and went on an hour and a half walk while listening to it. Two birds with one stone - focus on sobriety AND taking steps to take care of myself with exercise.

Warning: The hosts are not professionals. But we can't control everything...

    Enjoy.

      Relapse Prevention

      Hi, Dot:

You can listen to it through your browser online (click the link in the text above), but I listen on my iPhone through a podcast app that I got on the iTunes store. I think you can play podcasts with any number of players depending on your device.

      Good luck.

If you are on android then search for podcast on play store and you will find loads of podcast players. Choose of them like I chose beyond pod. Once installed you can search various podcasts in the search or add fead.
