Thats awsome evergreen, I will be facing the same thing tomorrow night. I asked the host of the party what to bring and she told me an appetizer. I told her I would be bringing non-alcohol beer too and she paused for a moment, after I told her I was on the "wagon"....she said "Oh...ok....but I will have some wine here for you too...." This may be my biggest challenge so far. I will be so angry with myself if I give in to this. I went out and bought fancy beer glasses...part of my addiction is holding a wine glass....wierd...I used them last night and it actually helped. I am going to bring my glass with me in case she only has those big mugs that don't do it for me. They will really think I'm off my rocker when I show up with my own glass. I am at the point where I don't care, I want to put myself first for a change and take on a new attitude. I know that I am a bit different than alot of the people I live around, I wonder if some of the drinking has been a way of trying to fit in. Does anyone else ever feel that way?

The Slippery Slope
Hi All: Padme: I love your words of wisdom. I'm one of those people who cannot drink at all. Melon: Your words are inspiring. Life might get boring at times, but at least you have your self-respect.
I have struggled throughout the month of May. I've been honest in DrinkTracker & come to the forums even when I feel embarrassed.

Good luck Buffy. May I just say that your hostess is insensitive!!!!! I agree that there is allure in the feel of the glass. Good for you to have a special mug!! Hang on to that new attitude!! Retteacher, I am with you in the struggle of May - not where I planned to be. I do think the honesty is huge. We cannot fix what we do not face!!!!! Mojomuppet - LOL Maybe I was more focused on the dice than the wine this time!! Thanks all!!!!
