    AB plunge...day 1.

Yes Running that's very normal I think. Embrace a cosy bed if you have one. Soon you will be a big girl and staying up later and later. Don't worry also if you have broken sleep as this is much more common than most people think (including for non-drinkers).

The hours between 4pm and 8pm were the toughies for me so I either kept busy with work, cooked up a storm, or just blobbed. Getting into my pyjamas as soon as I got home from work was another way I relaxed as was having a warm bath. Some nights we just ate takeout but overall my family has enjoyed more healthy meals since I quit AL.
We still have the odd family argument just to spice things up!:H

Plus I thought I would never enjoy cooking without an open bottle of wine by my side. Guess what? That was rubbish!
In the early days I cooked a lot of Asian foods that would have tasted yuk with AL.

Hey, R4L, I expect I will soon "just want to turn it all off." Since you've given yourself permission to feel grumpy and bored for a bit, why not tired as well? Others have posted that early on, they treat themselves as if they have the flu; drinking lots of fluids, sleeping a lot, just generally acknowledging that a healing process has started.

        Hugs right back at ya!

          Hey Gang!

The Antabuse is here, and tomorrow is the day. How long to wait after my final drink before taking it? Thinking I've read that 12 hours is enough, but want to double-check with y'all. Not planning on a major bender tonight, just the usual bottle of wine. The last one. Forever.

          Thanks,
          Pie

            Hi
I can only go by my experience but I usually wait 12 to 14 hours and it is okay but I think it also depends on how much you drink as well.
            Good luck!

Thanks, R4L! Yes It's just personal experience, I'm asking for. At the end of the day, how I proceed will be up to me.

Hi there Pie. Did you take the AB? Checking to see how you are. Remember that the AB won't stop any cravings or physical withdrawal - so these are days and nights to treat yourself with cotton gloves.

You can be a grump as well. At some stage that gets boring and its time to break out the humor and the warm side that lurks within most of us.

treetops! Hi! Yes, I took the AB around 1 this afternoon, and doing okay so far. I have no major commitments over the next few days, so can just stay in and rest/sleep if I start to feel bad. Thanks soooo much for checking on me, and your advice. Mighty kind of you! Think I'll make my way over to the Newbies Nest shortly to say hello.

Hi gmc! I'm getting on very well, thank you! Taking the AB is easy; one pill, once a day, no side effects. I'm finding it a useful tool that supports my AF commitment.

Another very useful tool for me is a slide show of 28 flash cards called Bullets for my Beast. Hoping this link will work, https://rational.org/index.php?id=155 but if not, just Google for it.

                        Best,
                        Pie

                            Hi Pie
I have been trying to stop without AB but cant so will start taking the pill again despite a help line and doctor telling me not to.

My main concern is getting bored and start drinking again after a few weeks. I really need to put every effort into rehabilitating myself with the time AB gives me

I hope all is well with you

                              GMC, Hello!!

Antabuse and I have been a successful partnership now for 18 days! Don't think I'll trust myself without it until I'm much farther along building an AL-free life.

Concerned that you've received medical advice NOT to take it, though. Did they say why? Please be very careful.

                                AB plunge...day 1.

It was a strange situation tbh. I rang my local helpline Addaction and went there for a chat. They said I should go to AA to meet people in the same situation but AB is a last effort drug basically those taking it are dying from Alcohol and I should see a Doctor for advice. So my local Doctor said they cant help but adviced me not to take AB and I should got down to Addaction for advice as they cant help me. Frustrated I stopped taking it and started drinking again DOH. So here I am but I know I have more chance of success with AB than without it.
Glad to here your still sober
