I used to deliberately not eat for several hours before I drank - increased the reward. It was really stupid and probably contributed to screwing up my blood sugar.
Now that my blood sugar is stable, I'm never hypoglycemic, don't crave food or overeat, and find that my body seems to know when to eat and how much. To be liberated from cravings, feeling awful after overeating, and constantly thinking about when I can eat and how much is second only to being freed from alcohol. People talk about how dealing with food issues is harder than dealing with drinking because we can't quit eating. That is true but we can eat in a way that eliminates the problems that are so reminiscent of those caused by alcohol.
All the best, NS
