    Sugar headaches....

Eloise and Patrice - So glad you're getting relief from the headaches and the sugar cravings.

    Paulywogg
    - Does diet pepsi have aspartame (nutrasweet) in it? That stuff can definitely cause headaches!
Everything you want is on the other side of fear.

      Sugar headaches....

I do drink diet coke a few times a week, but I do not want to make myself crazy either.
No wine, little to no sugar, no diet coke... I think the key is moderation (except for in the case of the wine).
No wine is definitely the best approach for me.
Trying to get back to working on a painting that needs to be finished...

Headache is all gone today, thank god!

        Sugar headaches....

Eloise, That's great news! And I'm with you, don't make yourself crazy trying to cut out everything all at once. It will just make it too hard! Glad the headache is better today. I'm over 50 days now and I'm rarely having the headaches now. I've gained about five pounds since I stopped drinking, which bums me out. I was sure cutting alcohol would help me drop a few pounds but that's not the case with me and my sugar craving. I'm going to get a handle on it though. I'm working my sugar plan now!! Hope you have a great AF, headache free, painting day!

          Sugar headaches....

Hey Ginger.... day 43 today and reading your message gives me hope that perhaps with time these headaches will subside. I had another one last night, not too bad, but there none the less.
Started in the late afternoon and was still there when I went to sleep.
It is a very stressful time for us ... both unemployed (well, I am sort of unemployed- working but not making money).

So, I get myself a bit wound up thinking about all this in the evening.
I had some ice cream again last night, but I am not going to beat myself up about it. And it wasn't me craving sugar, but my husband being sweet.

New target is 2x per week on the sweets... and try and manage like that. I can do it. I am allowing myself all the fruit I feel like. And going to gym every other day.
I am not focusing on my weight but how I feel.

            Sugar headaches....

Eloise, That sounds like a solid plan. I'm vegan so fruit and veggies are my mainstay. Unfortunately, this sugar thing has really knocked me for a loop. Sorry to hear about the work situation. That is so stressful! And the stupid headaches - jeeze.... Hope you find relief soon. Do you happen to wear a nightguard at night? I know when I'm stressed, I clinch my teeth and get terrible headaches from that. If you are stressed you might be clinching and not even know it. I buy my night guards at Walgreens 2 for $20 and they last forever. My dentist would rather I purchase from him but at $400, that's not happening! Anyway.... You might try that and just see if it helps the headaches. Hope today goes better for you!

              Sugar headaches....

Good morning Ginger... Well I have had my sweets already for this week
Trying not to be too rigid with myself as I do not want to rock this fragile quit I have going.
In the past I would start freaking out about gaining a few kilos and then cave.
I have gained 2 kilos in 4 weeks. I am NOT going to obsess about it.
I am going to get a hold on things. 2 kilos is nothing, 5 is a problem.

I have had a night guard and it does help. I was never able to get comfortable with the store guards though. I am thinking about trying my relaxation cds at night? My hd starts talking about things when we are in bed and I start to flip out.

              Naturally.
We had a lovely day yesterday though. Boat ride through the canals in Delft and then to the Royal Delft Pottery factory. Really nice!

Lets see how today progresses with the head, okay so far.

                Sugar headaches....

Eloise, I'm so glad you had a good day and I hope today is even better. Can you ask that stressful talk not be discussed at bedtime? That would freak me out! Let's talk about puppies and butterflies. LOL I'm with you on the weight gain. I've lost 30 lbs over 4 years going vegan and I look and feel better than I have in years. Cleaned out sort of. I don't want to gain any of that weight back by eating garbage food. However, if it takes some sugar at first to get through this quit, I'll do it short term. I've tried dried fruit, which helps with the cravings more than fresh fruit. I'll get there!! Have a great headache free day.

                  Sugar headaches....

Thanks Ginger you too! It is 4:30 PM here.
I have only gained 1 kilo, not two... silly me.
Wow, 40 lbs? That is amazing, good for you. I have been eating a lot of raisins over here.... I have to go home and back cookies for tomorrow (snack for art class).
I will talk to the hd about bedtime conversation topics. He loves to surf the net at night and tell me all the stories of economic doom. Terrifying.

Off to do my baking... take care!

OH NOOOOOO...... Ecomonic doom at bedtime??? I'd strangle my hubby if he did that. LOL Send me a cookie when you get them done. ps.... The weightloss was painless. Didn't even know it was happening until about 6 weeks in!

                      Sugar headaches....

I made chocolate chip cookies- danger, danger & SO delicious!
Painless weightloss? How? Please explain... ?

I have got myself ComPletEly wound up tonight.
My brain is on fast forward... Terrible. Just brewed a pot of Tension Tamer tea- remember that stuff? I love it. Of course I am in such a twist i forgot to put the tea bag in the pot. 10 more minutes... Tick Tock..
Wound up because art classes will finish mid July and then I have not much lined up for August.
Freaks me out. No income & nothing to do.. Yikes!

Yes, economic doom at bedtime. He is an economist. We make a perfect team, I am by nature impulsive & bad with money. He is calm, cool, and calculated. Hahaha... Funny right?

                        Sugar headaches....

An economist and a free spirit?? Sounds like me and hubs! I'm the free spirit. The painless weight loss was a byproduct of going vegan. That wasn't hard for me at all because I've always felt guilty consuming once living creatures so when I finally committed to cutting things out of my diet (that once had a face), the weight just started going. I got off my high BP meds and I dropped my cholesterol from 205 to 172 so all in all it was not only good for the sweet little critters I no longer consumed, it was good for my health too! Unfortunately graham crackers and coconut milk ice cream are delightful and I found that I can consume quite a bit in a sitting!! I'm BIG into hiking and the out of doors. Can you do something like that in August to keep your mind busy? Where are you actually? I'm in Washington state.

                          Sugar headaches....

                          Vegan, okay... makes sense.
I agree about eating animals. I refused to eat animals growing up. It was one big battle with me at mealtime. I started eating a bit of meat in fish when I was almost 30, sick and tired of talking about why I didn't want to eat certain things.
You are right. Stick to your guns.
We are in the Netherlands. Lots of trails to walk... the weather has been great this year. Much better than last year.

                          I have a headache again!!
I should have eaten before the gym. My fault.

                              Eloise,
Dang it!! You mentioned calling a doctor. Did you do that? I hope this passes for you soon because feeling like crap when you are doing something good for your body is such a bummer.

I had a wonderful, quiet, meditative hike. Just me and my dog. It was just what I needed to recharge.

                              Feel better soon!

                                Sugar headaches....

                                Oh good Ginger!

That sounds great. No, did not call the doctor. I hate dealing with 'getting to know ' a new doctor. Woke up with slight headache... Its getting stronger. So annoying. It is a bummer to have this headache as otherwise I would be feeling great. I may make a telephone appointment? They do it in the afternoon.

                                Let's see....
