    Intro

Hello. New here. On day 12 of my sobriety. Last drink was on the 4th of july. I drank a fifth of vodka. Had to switch from whiskey for it became too hard on me. Been drinking hard for about three years. Progressively became more and more. Turned into all day everyday. The fifth of july i woke up and decided it had to stop. I mean who had i become. Ths wasnt me.

    5 July: withdrawals, kindling
The worst i ever had. Heart fluttering, racing. Uncontrollable vomiting, etc. told my daughter it was a seafood allergy, i almost had myself convinced of it i said it so much. But i pushed through the withdrawals. Now im sober 12 days.

    Thankyou

Welcome, Tony, and congratulations on getting yourself to this point! The worst of the physical problems should be behind you now, thank goodness.

If you haven't been there yet, the Newbies Nest is a great place to hang out at the beginning and the toolbox is full of ideas for extending your 12 days. It isn't easy but you can get a lot of support here. And I promise you, getting alcohol out of your life is worth whatever it takes.

Links to the threads I mentioned are given below.

Welcome Tony. No judging here as we all live in glass houses.
          Congratulations.

How old is your daughter. If she is older than 14, I think she is old enough to see the change in you. You are her role model and she will choose a man like you. :h

            Hi, Tony, and welcome!

As you no doubt know, kindling just gets worse each time. A piece of advice given to me when I came was to take a long time and write out exactly how you felt that July 5, and other times like it. When you start to feel better and are tempted to drink again, take some time remembering that feeling. So far (7 months!) that has worked for me. I NEVER want to feel like I did that day again.

Hop on over to the Newbies Nest and read around this site. In addition to the wise words of the people here, there are many resources and links you can check out. Take care of yourself!

              Hi Tony - stay strong.

You're right. That IS NOT you when you are drunk.

12 days is a great total. Keep building day by day and think how you will feel after 1 month, 6 months and a year. How would that differ between how you would feel if you were still knocking back AL like it was going out of fashion?
