    Help!

    Hi there, welcome to MWO.
I have always found that my anxiety is worse, when I drink wine. Sure things will always be stressful but when I drink it amplifies it, are you on anything for anxiety that may interact with the wine...Wine is my go to as well when I feel stressed, and all it has been causing me through the years is a lot of heart ache and my problems just get bigger.
First of though, its great you found this place! Daily support helps immensely and talking to people who are in the same situation.

        Help!

Hello Hippiechique. Great name by the way. First step is to get yourself detoxified. No need to make long-term plans or pronouncements right now while you can't think straight. After detox, you can come up with a plan to maintain your sobriety.

Having no idea about your drinking history (you mention daily drinking and wine, but not for how long or how much, etc.), you may or may not need a medical detox. If you don't need a medical detox, the usual suggestions are useful: proper hydration and tons of B vitamins. Others can probably suggest some herbal remedies as well. If you suspect you might need a medical detox, you probably do. A fact many people are shockingly ignorant of is that alcohol withdrawals are among the only withdrawals that can actually kill you. The danger in narcotics and opiates is of overdose while actually using. But the most dangerous aspect of alcohol abuse kicks in while you're trying to stop. Good luck and welcome.
In the middle of my life's journey, I found myself in a dark wood, as I had lost the straight path. It is a difficult thing to speak about, how wild, harsh and impenetrable that wood is. Just thinking about it recreates the fear. It is scarcely less bitter than death, but in order to tell of the good that I found there, I must tell of the other things I saw there. --Dante, paraphrased

          Help!

Hi and welcome You are in a great place that will provide you with help and much needed support. So many of us have gone through similar situations. You will be amazed at how you are not alone. As momofthree said, the Newbies Nest thread is a great place to introduce yourself and meet others who are starting out as well as some who have been free of alcohol for quite awhile but still post to help others and to get help themselves when needed. There is also a Toolbox thread that is very helpful. You need to have tools to help you when you are getting cravings and want to drink. You will need support and you should post here often - we always say....read read, post post!!

It is not easy, but you can do this!! You will never ever regret it!

              Help!

Welcome, Hippie Chique... please do come back. The first couple of days are filled with soul searching and questions and doubt. We are all at different stages of our relationship with alcohol and if this is important to you, it's important to us, too. :l Patty
