Hi NS- I stopped taking Kudzu, chromium and milk thistle a few months ago. On the fence as to whether to re-engage anything there. Stopped taking extra Niacin and Thiamine a few weeks ago and ran out of by B- complex last week. Immediately felt I needed to add the B vitamins back, and got new and took those today already (just as a complex now though, which includes the B1 and B3, and some B-12, B- 6 as well.) Stopped taking St. John’s Wort a few weeks back. I bought that again today, haven’t taken yet. So the only things I was taking the last few weeks were fish oil, vitamin C and L-Glut….still taking those. Also added today Vitamin D, GABA and HTP 5 (took 1 dose of each already). All “doses” were/are basically the recommended amounts on the bottles (typically 2 pills of each).

So some of the things I still take were for general health and recovery from my past drinking. Some are/were for cravings . And some were/are to help mood/ mental health

I have not asked my doctor though about any of this here, but will in the short term. In the meantime, any thoughts are welcome and appreciated….

Well, that sure looks like a shot-gun approach ! I've been in that situation myself and it's really hard to tell what is and isn't making a difference.

If you have a cooperative doctor, getting a blood test to check for outright nutrient deficiencies might be a good place to start.

For the other things, adding (or subtracting) one at a time is pretty important for identifying what does and doesn't help. The downside is that that takes time and patience. And sometimes the answer is so much simpler than we think! A few years ago, I tried all sorts of supplements for fatigue and it turned out I just needed more salt in my diet! Cutting out processed foods eliminates so much salt that I had to learn to add it back (quite the tasty solution :wink.

Ha, yeah. I don't want to be a mad scientist, so I'll start slow to see what works. If I discover anything worth sharing, I will do that. Thanks
