Hi Wtymes, we haven't met so just wanted to say hello and let you know this isn't at all unusual.

          Firstly this will pass.

Just a few tips..........can you get hold of some Complan or even some Slim Fast drinks................they do contain some calories to keep you going for now.

Little and often.............make a sandwich and cut into small pieces...........just try and eat a piece every time you pass the plate.

Bananas............a packed lunch in a skin.

Plenty of fluids............its surprising that when we stop drinking alcohol we forget to actually drink anything else.........but try and keep caffeine to a minimum.

And most important treat yourself kindly...........rest as much as you can.

You're ticking along nicely there, WT..........keep it going.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

I did think you tapered a little too fast, the whole idea of tapering is to let your body get used to the lower units before going to a new lower level so you avoid the white knuckling effect you keep hearing about from people who just quit over night.

They've got some great ideas though and you cant go back now so take heed and good luck.
It's not what you drink, it's how much!

                Thanks everyone
Especially the eating tips - very helpful
                So still not drinking
I gave up coffee - can't take the "buzz"
Drinking loads and loads of Green Tea/Ginger Tea mix (1 bag of each in the teapot)
Im eating fruit and nuts and dried fruit and every morning boiled egg and toast - I have found a bio vegetable pate that I can eat on toast - got different types of wholemeal bread to vary my toast taste LoL

                But still no booze
                So thanks everyone

@Lasha - maybe a little too fast but after my blow out I had a reputation to recover and well Im seem to have managed it - it was horrible and perhaps some of the horrible parts could have been avoided - but it over TG.

                bye

As I said you went for it a bit too quick but hey ho good for you.

What I did in 2 months you have done in 2 weeks so you may find your body needs to adjust to having no al.
About a month and things should be getting back to normal.

Are you thinking about getting a dog, joining a rambling club or what are your plans?
You need to fill those hours spent drinking doing something healthier.

I still look at people's shopping trolly and think he's in trouble, that used to be me.
Also people at work with hangovers the same.

And as al kills nerve ends you can sometimes see people shaking as they're counting there change at the off licence. Me again.
Also kills nerves in your feet so spot the flat footed ones. Not guilty as that's a long way down the line.

Nice to be in control for a change.
                        Keep it up Jim.

you're doing brilliantly Jim. I wouldn't worry too much whether your taper was too fast/slow - you got off the AL safely, which is by far the most important thing

if you're struggling to eat, do think about taking some supplements - a multivitamin would help, and B-vitamin complex's are useful for people who've recently quit

keep up the good work my friend

                              Jim,

Have you asked your doctor about your loss of appetite? Al wrecks your stomach lining and you may have an ulcer or some other kind of a problem. I was given Lansoprazole and it helped me.

                              Keep on trucking.

                                Hi Everyone
Been a bit busy sorting some stuff out and I forgot to renew my Internet connection - bit of a blunder. I was trying to figure it out and well eventually it was my unpaid bill something to do with changing to SEPA ???
anyway back now and still not drinking - which is good to report

so good luck and god bless
