    Jekyll & Hyde and Authenticity

Does anyone else get the feeling that they are VERY different when drinking? Doing things, saying things etc. that they wouldn't dare do sober? I feel like the longer I use AL as a tool on the weekends to 'socialise' that my behaviour gets more erratic. But, you don't remember it right?

I feel this difference between 'reality' and 'AL world' causes me to feel like I am hiding something in my normal life. As if they are two different things. Like I am always trying to hide in my everyday life, as if everyone knows I have this problem. It makes being honest, and the ability to express yourself harder.

I have a friend who does this too. Except he does really out there stuff like pathologically cheat on his girlfriend. It is rather remarkable how he tries to convince himself that it is all okay, and because he was drunk it doesn't matter. That is what he likes to do when he is buzzed. If not, he is loyal as the day is long.
Is this what you are talking about?
By the way he has made an enormous mess of his life. The girlfriend became the wife who became pregnant, who soon figured out what he was up to, who then decided to stone wall him. Sorry she is right. Now he lives on a different continent and has to see the judge to get an order to see their son.
Whoopsie-doopsie. Yeah, do your best to get a handle on this Jekyll and Hyde thing before it gets entirely out of hand and really does become a second life.
(AF since 17 May 2014) 2 years 5 months sober
