    My first AL-free Christmas party!

Well folks, last night - after 3-score-and-3 days sober - I attended a Christmas party with nary an alcoholic drink passing my lips all night

This is literally the first party I've been to since about age 15 without drinking any alcohol!

Long story shorter: It was a lot easier than I thought it would be and actually got easier and easier as the night went on. The hardest moment was right at the start. We were handed champagne on the way in, and then the bar 10 ft from the entrance had nothing but beer and wine. For a fleeting moment, a thought entered my mind that I should just have one beer and then revert to AL-free for the rest of the night once I'd found a bar that had more variety.

Thankfully, I thought through that idea and chose to not have anything until I found a bar that served ginger ale. A hunt which took me all of about 30 seconds.

It turned out to be a really great evening. It was actually fun watching everyone getting drunker by the minute. Gave me a whole new outlook on things. And being able to drive my wife home knowing I'm stone-cold-sober - best feeling ever :smile2:.

Fantastic 3 times, well done you!!! that is a great achievement! :welldone::sohappy::goodjob:
One day at a time - this is enough. Do not look back and grieve over the past for it is gone; and do not be troubled about the future, for it has yet to come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful it will be worth remembering...

        That's great well done :-)

Nothing like going out to a party & not drinking, enjoying yourself & leaving when you want, & then waking up next morning all happy & clear & if I may say feeling smug.

:congratulatory: Clean & Sober since 13/01/2009 :congratulatory:

From the sound of the way you're feeling, I think it's just the beginning of many AF 1sts. for you Charmed!
Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.

            That's awesome 3T!
Sometimes what you're most afraid of doing is the very thing that will set you free.

Awesome 3T! I love that feeling.
It's always hardest at the beginning for me too. The awkward task of getting my non-al drink. It's empowering but I feel a little wobbly when I see the look on people's faces. Like "oh she's on the wagon". YES I am and I'm happy! "And you should be too because if I were not on the wagon dear, I would be the the epic fail of this party!" Lol I don't really say that but I think it!
Most people don't even notice. I get supportive glances from those who matter and sometimes someone pulls me aside who wants to be sober.

Did you order cherries in your ginger ale? I love it with cherries! It's a special mocktail I enjoy just at parties!
              Day 1 again 11/5/19
              Goal 1: 7 days :heartbeat:
              Goal 2: 14 days :happy2:
              Goal 3: 21 days :happy2:
11/27/19: messed up but back on track
12/14/19: bad doozy but back on track

              One day at a time.
