    Re: Dropped the ball

    Thanks Pie for the welcome.

Wildflowers, we can certainly do this together. Day 1 today. Jus had a nice meal of baked salmon, sauted California blend veggies and brown rice. I feel pretty good after this meal. As far as the cleanse, a friend of mine was telling me about using whole fruits in smoothie verses pealing to get twice the fiber and additional health benefits that are in the peels. I want to try whole pineapple (with the peel) whole kiwi, baby spinach, strawberries and flaxseed for a few day. Iam avoiding all sugar, dairy and processed meats for the time of the cleanse. Will be drinking plenty of lemon water...and salad for lunch. I do love that smoothie recipe you listed. I do incorporate most of your ingredients to my everyday smoothie. I too have the depression and anxiety issues as im most of us do. I find that taking a veggie smoothie(no fruit) to be very helpful for my anxieties. I typically mix spinach, broccoli V8 veggie juice and 2 tablespoons of flaxseed. I find that taking it earlier in the day helps with mental focus and mood in general. I also take green tea daily. Very good for anxiety. Any exercise you can manager is very helpful, even if it means walking around the block. I do aerobics in the morning most days.

Congrats on your day one. You can do this. Believe in you Liz. Your breakfast, brunch sounds healthy and delicious. Mine wasn't as healthy. Do like eggs and generally eat 1-2 times a wk. Buy organic, free roaming eggs. However, do have a problem with cheese. Not sure I'll ever give it up. Past mgr of mine melted cheese, laid it on a plate. Said all this is plugging your arteries and she went on & on. Knew she was being truthful and trying to help. Really rather nice that she cared for her employees. Think it was her delivery, well her tone. Or maybe it was my perception. So my omelette was at least meatless, with spinach, onions, mushrooms and yes cheese. Yes dairy. Tonight will be a bit healthier salad, stuffed mushrooms with smoked salmon. Yes, more cheese. Philly to hold salmon & chopped veggies. I'm trying tho. Beginning to use almond, or coconut milk in smoothies instead of reg milk. Don't generally drink much milk, but its organic grass fed when I do. My coffee needs some work. Getting there. "Progress not perfection".

Using whole raw produce too. Not sure about whole pineapple. Those pokey-sharp things on outside. Read apple seeds contain arsenic. Couple of wks bk used pineapple reluctantly. Think it's highest on glycemix index. Beets, carotts to, but am overlooking those for their other health benefits. I'll try your suggestion this wk of veggies only. :eek-new:. Fruit helps the taste. See what your saying. Maybe it will help me too. Ah ha, if I add veggie juice first that may help the taste. Have some in garage. Have green tea in cupboard. Think it has high content of L-theanine. have tried pills in past & didn't help. Sugar is hard to give up and not there yet. I'll watch your progress and hope it helps you and encourages others. Drinking lemon water and taking a propriety blend of milk thistle. Stretching in am, tai chi movements. Was out doing yard work so that helps. Glad you do your aerobics all that cardio is good... Oh day three here. Were on our way..

Hope your Sunday is peaceful. Thank you for sharing your detox plan, knowledge and support Liz!...

Day 2 done : Wildflowers, The smoked salmon with mushrooms sounds fantastic as my appetite is back to normal. I love eggs. Most nights i make scrambled egg whites with avocado and toast for dinner. I find this combo very sleep friendly as i am a severe insomiac.light protein and whole carbs help me sleep so much better. I use a nutribullet for the pineapples. Completely liquifies everything. You are right about the glycemic index. I just want to try it for a natural cleanse due to the fiber. Will let you know how it goes. The veggie smoothie is definitely an acquired taste. I have grown to tolerate pretty tough tastes due to the benefits. Its not for the faint of heart. I used to blend jus spinach, broccoli and tomato and chug it down. I found that using v8 veggie juice adds even more veggies, flaxseed seed and wheat germ add protein, omega acid and folic acid which all work to control anxieties and depression.
I hope your day 4 is so much better. My day 2 waspretty easy as i had really tapered off before starting day one.

Day 3 down. Staying pretty busy for the past few days is helping the days go fast.

              Re: Dropped the ball

Congrats Liz. Your doing this one day at a time. Here with you all the way. Poured all alcohol out on 3/3.

Tried all veggie smoothie. Even with adding veg juice it wasn't pallable, but doable. Know its good for mwah. Still don't understand why people discard egg yokes, other then cholestrol. Yokes is my fave part. I tried your idea of eating lite b4 bed. Had salad & rye toast. Slept great. Last night had stuffed bell peppers. Shouldn't have eaten marble cake. Slept bad. Tonight it's back to baked chicken and zuccini.

Going to store tom and will buy more healthy foods and avoid tempting cakes, pastries. Going to try a new recipe baked acorn sqaush with nuts, chopped veggies and goat cheese. Let you know if it's any good. Course you may not like acorn sqaush. haven't done spagetti squash in a while. Also carved out zuccini, put that in marinara or tom sauce for drizzling. Stuff zuccini with ricotta, mushrooms. Will be on wknd menu.

Hope your having a good AF day. If you ever need any extra support, I'll give you my phone and we can chat or text. Think your on eastern time. Try to member where everyone's located is a test. I'm on PST. No worries if you don't want to exchange numbers. Won't hurt my feelings. Just wanted you to know the offer is on the table. Sometimes, I call AA people or pick up my phone for them.

Going to re-read that part on depression you wrote about. Need to really be proactive with this.
