        Going for a month AF

Hi Everyone: I love the idea of 30 days AF...in fact, the rest of my life AF. However, like Blueyes, I find counting the AF days doesn't always work for me. I'm terribly bummed when I slip & have to go back to zero. I do drinktracker, because I really need a visual. Maybe the AA folks have something in the one day at a time message. Just for today I will not drink. I'm not sure...I only know that I feel so much better when I haven't been drinking at all. Good luck everyone. Mary

          Going for a month AF

          Hi everybody,

Well am on day 5 and feeling ok, better than ok. Slept well and am feeling energetic bouts coupled with moments of lethargy - luckily I work from home, so it's easy to take 'time out' and read for a bit.

Cindi, it's sooooo outstanding that you managed to resist. It sounds like it was major temptation time. Hope you're feeling as proud of yourself as you deserve to. And to set such a good example to your daughter too. Hope you get the chance to take it easy today. You get my vote for heroine of the day - not that we aren't all heros and heroines!

Hereatlast - congratulations on 6 days af - what a brilliant achievement! I've been told the missing it gets easier.....

Luc, hope the headache passes, apparently lots of water is good for that and for detoxing in general. You sound really upbeat though! Congratulations on 2 days af.

Mary, I think you need to do whatever suits you. Setting goals you can actually achieve, like not drinking for a day/an hour etc. is a good idea if you're likely to beat yourself up if you fail to achieve your goal. You're doing great.

thought2much - day 10, wow, still seems an awful long way off to me. Absolutely brilliant achievement. Understand the wanting/needing to change everything and resulting confusion. I do that a lot. For me it works better if I break things down into small steps and focus on those rather than the 'big picture'.

Hope you're all having a fantastic day.

            Going for a month AF

            It's almost the witching hour

And I've got the cravings............Just snaffled a complete bag of pistachio nuts, 'n guzzled a litre of af shandy (Yuchh) - I'm usually cruising the kitchen around now, snacking all the tasties that the fridge has to offer (I do keep it quite well stocked - there's really no problem, as it's mostly salads, fruit, fish 'n things). Off into the mountains tomorrow to walk up to a great waterfall, and then a pic nic on the hoof. Put some af beers on chill (that'll impress the guys !! not).
You are all doing great in this gang - we are going to be proud.

              Enjoy the Hike

I loved the walks when I lived in Germany.

Don't worry about impressing the guys. You'll be able to hike back down quicker than them after the picnic.

Have lots of fun. Beautiful country there. Miss it much.

                    Going for a month AF

                    Good Morning From Alabama!!

                    Uda, Luc, Hereatlast, Thought2Much,

Good morning from Alabama. We actually had RAIN yesterday. It was so beautiful and sorely needed. We are in the middle of a severe drought.

I was still in the throes of horrible cravings yesterday but did not cave in. So, 5 days AF for me!! I am really hoping my meds kick in soon to alleviate some of the cravings. If not, oh well, I guess I'll just have to deal with them.

Uda, I hope things are going well for you, too!! (You should be at 6 now??)
Luc, how was your hike and picnic? I should have asked for some pictures!!
Hereatlast, Yes, it is wonderful to know where the heck those bruises actually came from, isn't it? I am still covered with them. At my age they take forever to go away, so I'll have some reminders for a while.
                    Thought2Much, hanging in there?

Today we are going to be in the low 90s F, 32s C, so fairly warm but not unbearable. July and August are going to be miserable, I am considering asking Luc if I can come for a visit during those months.

Hope all goes well for everyone today and let me know how all of you are doing. (Actually, down here it is, "How are y'all doin?") :H

Take care and drop a post.

Hi everyone and glad to hear you're doing ok. Yep, day 6 for me and I'm feeling really well. Had a meeting today which was boring and irritating - this being France, there was plenty of wine available but I stuck to water and it didn't really bother me very much at all. The 'after all that you deserve a drink' thought when I got home didn't last long either. I've been trying to remember what I said to myself to counter the thoughts but I can't! Very irritating as it would be so useful for the future.

Hope you're all having a successful day.

I've done a month before, 2 and a half weeks quite recently but then - well, then I seem to go on a bender. So, I would like to do the 1 month AF starting tomorrow (that seems very scary!) and I would really appreciate people's comments on how to keep going for the month and also how to not go on a bender when it's over!

                            Thank you.

                              Hi db2fromala,
I'm in Virginia, and we had dark skies and wind, but no rain last night. Finally we're in the 80s today, but I have to go out and water my flowers. I've been trying to get out to walk, but I just had to give up the last few days...maybe this evening.

                                Man, I blew it!!

                                Uda, Luc, Hereatlast, Thought2Much, Blueeyes,

I had a couple of glasses of wine today. (My particular poison)

So I am not AF any days any more. However, I did go 5 days in a row, which for me is a HUGE miracle. (I cannot make any excuses, I just really wanted those glasses of wine sitting in front of me on the table, grrrrrr!!)

Now I am trying to decide what to do next. Go for more AF? U BET!!! :-) FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION!!

Luc. I really wish I could see the pictures. I have a picture (old style not uploadable) of my oldest brother up in the alps surrounded by the mountains and beautiful flowers, 20 years later we found the exact same spot and took a picture of my son there. SO GORGEOUS!! You are so surrounded by beauty where you live.

I do so apologize to all of you for my failing, but absolutely do not want to fall out of this "gang," However, I cannot lie and say I have been abstinent when I fell off the wagon - as we say in America.

I truly hope that I can start all over again and just be that much more behind you guys for the rest of the month. Okay???
