    Going for a month AF

Cindi, you didn't fail, you slipped up, made a mistake, that's all. It's so great that you are not allowing it to discourage you but are determined to get stuck right back in. That shows enormous strength of character.

The thread is about TRYING to go for a month af, not necessarily about doing it lol, so I really hope you'll stay with us. We're all learning things about ourselves and our drinking as we go along I think. What do people think about us talking about what we learnt from our experiences this month at the end of it?

Take lots of care all of you

      Going for a month AF

Hi guys, a bit late checking in today, we had huge electrical /rain storms for most of the night ? hardly slept a great deal, and the power was off this morning. I?ve got the TV men in this afternoon, reinstalling the repaired plasma screen, (and I must do a bit of work at some stage).

What are you on about Cindi, what?s all this about failure. Okay you had a couple of wines ? big deal ? what you should take onboard in a huge way ? YOU WERE FIVE AF DAYS IN CREDIT - now that is really WOW !!

We all know just how difficult that was; right, you start your af days again, but so what, next time you?ll do a six, maybe a seven possibly an eight ? lets go for at least a ten ? after all this is the going for a thirty gang !! Hang in there Cindi ? I may need your support if I trip up.

      Luc.

PS to you with your PC buff hat on now, ? you never told me about right or wrong mimes for uploading my photos.

        Plasma

        Luc and Team,

We are trying to put a flat planel T.V. in the bedroom. We are leaning towards LCD but Plasma is also an option. Any opinions? (Since you mentioned plasma...)

btw: Thanks for the kudos. It is tough to mess up but like I said, failure is not an option. I may fail many times but in the end I will not fail!!

Today is back to dry. Drought this year for Alabama. I feel very badly for our farmers. Cotton is going to be expensive this year. However, I digress.

        All take care!!

          Flat screen TV

Cindi - I'll get back to you on this one. The guys are in the house right now, fitting the repaired Pioneer plasma (109 cms) into my bedroom, and wall mounting a new Panansonic (127 cms) in the living room. I was tempted to go for LCD this time, but in the showroom the plasmas had a much truer colour.
          Till later.

Cindi: It's amazing that you could stop at 2 wines. Once I start I cannot stop. I just read all the entries for this thread. They were great! I'm doing OK one day at a time. I do have 2 AF days right now & hoping for another tomorrow. Thanks for being there everyone. Mary

                Feeling Okay

Not a lot of feed back from you girls - just how are you doing. I agree with you mary, for cindi to stop after two glasses of wine is a triumph (perhaps there were only two glasses left in the bottle - then she hurt bad !! - I know I would've). I see from the Drink Tracker you have done well this month mary, with quite a few af days to your distinguished credit.
Watched the newly installed plasma screen in the bedroom last night, a first for me. I've never bothered with a TV in the bedroom; cos I've either usually passed out, or fairly bladdered and can't focus, or busy.
Went swimming this afternoon, in a great pool complex with wave maker, water slide etc. Did about thirty lengths. I prefer the lakes, but they are still quite cold this summer.
To your keyboards girls and let's have your goss - we need to know how you're doing.

                Ciao - luc.

                  Going for a month AF

                  Hi everybody,

Sorry I've been 'absent' - been really rushed of my feet this weekend. Hope you've all had a good weekend (or are still having it!). You TV sounds awesome luc - mine is about 20 years old....Maybe time for a new one? Am truly cheap when it comes to electronic/electric stuff. As long as it still works it stays...

It's day 10 (!) for me and I went to a party last night, didn't drink, and actually had quite a good time! That's definitely a first, probably since hitting my teens.

Lots of gardening today so back, hands, arms etc. are dead tired and achy now.

                  Take care
                  Uli

                    Going for a month AF

                    See my post on Newbies

I haven't done well. I had to travel today. We had Li'l Bit's fifth B'Day yesterday so stayed pretty busy. (This is my grandkid's odd years 9/7/5)

Today started to stop at 2 wines after up being really really early flying into Phoenix and the hotel brought me a complimentary (spelled it right this time, hah) half bottle of wine. Haven't finished it though.

However, I have broken into it. I had 3 glasses today, which really sucks. However, Down from 1 or 2 bottles of wine a day to less than a bottle. That's pretty darn good!! (I guess it's all relative, I would much rather be AF than Mods)

Too bad getting up soooo early and trying to work tonight on client stuff and keep up with you guys is killing me. Waaay tooo old for this stuff.

However, MUCH BETTER than sitting at bar throwing back glasses of wine until I wend my way back to room and black out!! I have been so lucky in the last 10 years that something horrible hasn't happened to me.

BTW Luc, hubby is looking at Plasma vs LCD for bedroom now because color is true and price is much lower. We don't view more than 3 hours/day (actually he does, I live in hotels all week and hardly ever even turn the darn things one) watching tv in bedroom so Plasma may be the way to go.

Wish I was AF but at least I am not completely wasted. Hey, I am typing this and reading up on all kinds of database stuff for client tomorrow!!

Take care all. I would like to shoot for AF tomorrow, but have been failing miserably at that. Maybe when I can bump topa up to 75 mg, it will help? Anybody had experience with that?

BTW, I am very proud of all you guy for doing so well. What a great group!!

                      Going for a month AF

                      Hi everybody,

Hope you're all doing well and, most importantly, are being as kind to yourselves as you would be to your best friend.

Cindi, the reason I'm not finding it too tough to go af is because I've been working on reducing/stopping drinking for 8 months. You are doing brilliantly! Your job sounds fascinating but pretty stressful too.

Have a rotten toothache today and terrible dentist phobia. Arrrrrrgh. Will have to make appointment. Wish me luck.

                      Take care

                        Arrgh.

                        Uda,

My LEAST favorite thing is a toothache and my next least favorite thing is going to the dentist.

Good luck and hope it gets fixed quickly.

Luc, Hereatlast, Thought2Much, and everyone else, have a wonderful day. Have to run. Client likes to start early.

                        I'll check in tonight.

                          Going for a month AF

                          Hi girls,

Uli, I hope you got your toothache sorted out (nothing too extracting).

Well done cindi on your moderate approach to the complimentary bottle of wine. Glad hubby is thinking plasma - I was in the shop again today, and I know I made the right decision over LCD.

I fell by the wayside (not literally) on saturday and came clean on chilli's thread 'slipped again' - just had to start counting again (what a bore) - back to a 3.
Have nothing planned seriously social now until a big reunion back in the UK on Friday July 13th (doesn't bode well does it), should be able to get a serious AF wedge under the belt before then.

Bedtime here now, after a cold, wet & windy day - such a dreadful summer so far - I had the log burning stove alight this evening.

BTW - Any bird watchers around ? Amongst all the usual visitors, I have an adult pair of lesser spotted woodpeckers feeding off the nut dispenser and feeding two fledglings waiting on the runner bean canes. Also an adult pair of green woodpeckers with three fledgelings, who seem to be raiding the lavae from an anthill - I love watching the local wildlife. In the early winter, I have large families of wild boar who come down from the higher forests to eat the wind fallen apples and pears. The amusing thing is because these windfalls have begun fermenting the boar get quite pissed and stagger about squealing - so funny to watch.

                          G'night

                            Going for a month AF

                            Good morning everyone,

Cindi, hope your day went ok. Luc, the pissed boars sound a hoot - had a dog getting plastered on chocolates filled with alcohol once....

Still got the toothache and am having trouble getting a dentist appointment. The right side of my face is starting to look somewhat hamster-like. Hopefully dentists will phone with emergency appointment before I'm disfigured for life! The pain is a nuisance as it stopped me from sleeping last night, so am tired too. Ah well.

What with yesterday's upheaval about my father and this, it's pretty challenging not to 'self-medicate'. Am still hanging in there though. Husband was very proud of me last night - that felt good. He's one of those people who drink a glass or two every two weeks - funny really, when we met we drank about the same (a fair bit at weekends not much during the week) - 20 odd years down the line he drinks hardly at all and I drank like a fish.

Hope you guys are having a great Wednesday.

                            Love

Can I join the Cindy and Uda support group? I too wonder how I'm going to do it, but with you guys and your encouragement I know that I can.

I hope that if I keep going I will be able to have the nerve to stop after 2 glasses of wine - a long road ahead but I think the list of "reasons not to" that's been suggested in the thread is a great idea.

Aren't plasma TVs great? I've got a huge one in my lounge and one in the bedroom too. The TV downstairs is HD - the picture on HD ready programs is great - well worth the wait.

You sound as if you're doing great guns with your AF days. Hope I can stick it out too.

                              Have a good day

Hello again Sweet Cheeks, just 'talked' to you on another thread. Yes join in with us, it's not a huge group (we like to think it's select !), but some are doing better than others. Uda, even with raging toothache has resisted the bottle, whereas cindi and I have supped a few scoops during the month, but overall we are doing fine, and we are TRYING, TRYING & TRYING some more.
