Re: Army June 22

hi Army!
a bit late today for my check in..
have been feeling a bit down since Sunday afternoon.. no desire to drink, just exhausted and easily irritable. it will surely pass.
waiting for my guy to arrive and then we'll head to the gym.. there i can get out some built up stress and aggression!:happy2:
sounds like everyone is doing well.. will check in again tomorrow morning before work at the latest..

Mary, i remember that heatwave!! i think it was in 2018? can that be?.. it was 40 for all of August.. nightmare. i'm really praying we don't have anything near that warm this summer.. fingers crossed!
xx

That 'blah' feeling is very very common at your stage...the pink cloud goes away and the sense of achievement of the first sober days dims...its actually not a nice stage but...it really doesn't last any length...by acknowledging it and accepting it's part of the process..that's the very best thing you can do. I usn't even be able to read - which is my go-to for everything! But once I understood...that was okay..and life brightens up and OPENS up in jig time...just stick around xxxx

thanks, Molly! that's what i was thinking.. the pink cloud is lifting.. nice that you confirmed.. i just don't really feel excited about anything, don't really have interest in anything..
i know i'll feel better after exercising.. and my plan is to stick close here, to try and just accept and relax and know that it will pass.
your 28° yesterday and swim in the lake sounded blissful.. though normally 28° wouldn't be warm enough for me to swim.. must feel warmer in Ireland!!

Ah we're hardy souls over here..swam all year round as a youngster...weather warm/cold..wet/dry,.didn't factor in in our family...my dad was a countryman...and I'm still much the same!
It took me a good 6 months to even start picking up things that had interested me when younger...before the drinking took over as my 'hobby'...be patient...it does all come back...and better cos we mature in sobriety so we can see what it is we really want to do as opposed to what we should do. It could also be a depletion of vitamins that alcohol robs affecting your mood Elsie.

I know these days doctors are prescribing Thiamine (B1) to those trying to get sober. YS got it.
And Magnesium is also recommended for relaxing & sleep.

I've started taking magnesium. Partially because are in the press and I'm using them up! But also sleep. They do work.
You could be right on that date Elsie. We were there in 2015 too and I stopped drinking as soon as we came back. I Was desperate at that point and couldn't handle the lack of opportunity to sneak drink with all family by my side constantly. All I wanted was to be was a normal drinker.
They guys here showed me that that ship had sailed, but that not normal could be fabulous
Your doing so well! Endorphins from exercise definitely helped me too.

Molly 2.5 hours is a perfect distance. No unannounced callers but close enough to pop up and down.
Fingers crossed for you Satz. What about a house swap for a few years! There must be loads of people who can't afford the bigger gaff, preferably ones that love DIY and renovations. That could be part of the contract :victorious:

Good to see you brit. Any chance of tweaking those meds?

I'll turn off the light.. before Alfie wakes us all up again.. x

Good morning Troopers from a warm Athens that's going to get warmer!! 31C at 11am - up to 35 by midday and high of 37 tomorrow. No prob for me - I love the heat.

Jackie - don't you just love the new baby smell. You want to hold on to them for hours just watching their little faces and breathing in that scent...

Elsie - what the others said about the vitamins. Magnesium helps calm you and also helps muscle cramping and spasms. I had terrible muscle cramping when I first stopped drinking. Also insomnia like never before - only slept a couple of hours a night. BUT...I was so happy to be finally sober that I just rode it out and eventually things evened out. Ups and downs are natural to everybody and when you've been numbing with AL for a long time, things seem more intense -when you stop even the blahs. You're doing great tho' - really well - because you are facing whatever happens and taking it in stride. Well done!!

Satzy - hope all goes well. (said from the heart!) Glad to hear you had a party at your Mom's. Prolly right about Rosie - the smell of the meds. Doggies are so sensitive about those things.

Mers - just a couple of weeks til Greece? The weather shouldn't be overly hot but you can never predict it well. We've had 10-day long heatwaves in June when the temps were 42 to 45 every day. Now that WAS hot!!!

Mrs. A - please check in to let us know how you're doing.

Tabbers - hope you're enjoying your garden and walks along the sea with your doggers!!

Waves to Rusters and Molls!!

All is well here but I gotta get back to work. Laters gaters!!
For every 60 seconds that you are angry, you lose a minute of happiness.

Good morning everyone

Change of plan, bed not coming today so going to go west tomorrow. Doggies are very sensitive and probably smell things we can’t. Glad you got to celebrate your Mom’s birthday Satz. Great age. I still take loads of vitamins LC, swear by them for menopause symptoms too. Guess you would need to like the heat to live there all the time Stirly. Just had a lovely walk down by the river. Enjoy your craft morning JC.

Waves to everyone else.

Morning..yup forgot about all the vitamins and stuff...interesting about magnesium and leg cramps...doing fierce amount of heavy work ...digging and lifting etc. and have been getting leg cramps..must try it.
B12 was my biggie...a ginormous (prescribed) dose for 6 months and it made a huge difference.

Beautiful day down here but thankfully not in 30's or 40's...I'd never have a garden!!!
Laters folks xx

Morning all
Jesus Stirls I'd be in a heap in that heat
. :shakingno:

And yes the muscle cramping is a curse - I get it in my calf but also in my toes & they twist at odd angles. If I use the magnesium spray at night I have no problem.

Off to my wee craftclub so I'd better get dressed..............its all very casual but me sitting in me pyjamas pushes it a bit far.
Ah sure feck it Jacks - there's fine line between 'jarmers and regular clothes these days. Pretend you're a hippy.

hi Army,

back in for a quick catch up before i hit the hay.. had a super relaxing afternoon, which included a long nap and Netflix! as you mentioned, Molly, it's difficult for me to concentrate on a book atm.. or for it to hold my interest..

started with the magnesium and the last i had of a b complex.. am ordering more which shouldn't take long to arrive.. thanks so much for the reminder!! haven't taken supplements in ages.

Mary, i think i remember reading that you also have teenagers? and tell me again where you're living.. i'm enjoying getting to know where you all are..

Stirly, thanks for the motivational reminder.. i am super happy to have quit and will try to change my perspective a bit more the next time i feel down or tired.. gosh, if i think of how miserable i was just a couple short weeks ago.. now tired isn't nearly as beat, down isn't nearly as down, haven't had a single headache or urge to vomit, haven't felt gutted or ashamed, haven't let anyone down.. the list goes on..

big hugs to all of you.. see you in the morning..xx
