    Which anticraving is your choice?

Hi-I went to a site that is advertised on this wonderful site-River pharmacy to see that there are a few anticraving drugs on there-any advice or insight on any of these would be great in deciding which is best for me-thanks in advance!

    Antabuse (Disulfiram)Baclofen (Baclofen)Disulfiram (Disulfiram)Revia (Naltrexone)Topamac (Topiramate)Topamax (Topiramate)

I recommend going to webmd.com and looking up each so you can see the side effects, drug interactions, contraindications, etc. because depending on other conditions you have or meds you are taking, you may want to rule out some of these right from the get go. Personally, I decided to start w/Naltrexone because it has virtually no side effects and I thought that the way it works would work for me (by taking away the 'high' from alcohol). But, if you have to take pain meds for anything, Naltrexone is gonna be a problem because it blocks all opiate type drugs. One that you did not mention is Campral and that is also one that has few side effects and is good for reducing/eliminating cravings. You have to take it several times a day, though, which can be a drawback. Of course, if you are taking all the other MWO supps, you already take pills multiple times per day so it really doesn't matter. Anyway, ultimately, it comes down to personal choice and I don't think one size fits all. Oh, and if you are going through your doctor for the Rx, most likely you will be steered towards Campral or Naltrexone because those are the most established/accepted currently for alcoholism treatment and covered by insurance for this purpose.

Good luck to you in deciding and starting on this journey. I know this was one of my biggest questions when I first got here. So many different meds, how do I ever choose?

By the way, I forgot to add that the Naltrexone has worked very well for me. I've heard it does not work for everyone, though. Some people say it does nothing for them. So, its one where you'd just have to try it to see if it works for you and, if not, then move on to something else.

My findings are similar to Adagirl's. Naltrexone seems to be working wonders. I posted in more detail if anyone's interested. https://www.mywayout.org/community/f2...tml#post179193
