    Drug Test

I'm going to be switching jobs in the next couple of weeks and part of the pre-employment process will be a drug test. I am taking Topamax without a prescription, having ordered it from an offshore pharmacy. Does anyone from the US know if this will be a problem? Will they question me about the Topiramate in my system and if they do, will I have to show a prescription? Or do they just check for illegal drugs such as cocaine, marijuana, etc.

Any feedback anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!

    Drug Test

    rob,

Usually topa is a specialize test that needs to be requested and will not show up on a standard drug test. Most urine drug tests test for narcotics and pot. Blood tests are for alcohol and for drugs. Most seizures meds like topamax , dilantin, etc are specific drug tests that are ordered individually and are pretty expensive. I can not guarentee that it won't show up on a test but I would be pretty surprised if topamax would show up on a random drug screen. If it did, it is not considered by the medical profession a drug of abuse so I still think you are safe. Hope this is helpful. This is info from the US, so if you are elsewhere, all bets are off. Aloha, WW

They will only test you for illegal substances and controlled substances, topa is not inthat category and will not show up on their tests---thing like valium and zanex will....
