    drinking on Naltrexone (sinclair method)

Mike, How long have you been doing the Sinclair method? I would like to know from you how it is going. I have been doing it since Oct 6th. Potato.

Strange? It's not strange at all. Why would a treatment hospital give up the thousands of dollars it charges for rehab? I predict they'll do everything they can to discredit the Sinclair Method.

IMO, the only medical professionals who will embrace the Sinclair Method are those GPs that don't have a vested interest in providing expensive treatment. The rehab hospitals are probably scared to death of an inexpensive, effective solution that can be administered by any doctor, including your family GP.

Aside from some book sales (far from a good way to get rich unless you're a top-20 fiction author), Drs. Sinclair and Eskapa have absolutely nothing to gain from promoting this method of treatment. After many phone and email conversations with Dr. Eskapa, I'm firmly convinced his motivation is to help people. He has already spent hours on the phone with me, time worth far more than he'll ever earn from the two copies of the book I bought.

Potato - you're a month ahead of me. How is it working for you? Notice the cravings dropping off any?

oceanaocean: If you're not drinking, don't take the Naltrexone. You're just wasting pills. If you can stay AF, good for you - and keep it up. Just take the Naltrexone if there is a chance you'll drink.

RV9 I don't know, if I had not started to take the Nal there is NO WAY I could have stopped drinking, it really got me through the holidays with no desire what-so-ever. This has happened for me in the past and when I drank I just fell back into my 24-7 and stopped the Nal. So maybe with some drinking there is hope for me on the Nal, but without it I could NOT have stopped drinking and for me that is the first step. I know it is confusing. But I am also on a low dose of Baclofen (a muscle relaxer) that I read will work together with the Nal to help with the cravings. Anyway, I will read the book when I get it tomorrow:thanks:

Wow, Thanks. I guess I didn't think about if the method was successful how it would impact the rehab clinics. Totally good point that I think is true. A chronic patient is a regular paycheck for them. OMG. How can some people be so greedy? I think the point should be that people get well. How niave of me. Oh yeah I have noticed a decrease in cravings and everything but on the days when something happens and I get upset or mad about something, then i find the cravings are there and i have to deep breathe etc. I would probably have to do that anyway , like any one else but it is my " go to drug " , so then I find my cravings get stronger when I get mad or frustrated. I still then take my Nal one hour before I drink. ( that one hour can be hard to wait) I do the dishes or something . Then I drink and it isn't a big deal. I am usually fine. I don't get loaded or really wasted. Then I end up talking to a friend or something and it all is cool. I will know more after the 4 months which will be in February. Potato

Oh sorry I meant you - potato, i was rushing to get to the dinner, wrong name, sorry! I live on the Russian River near Jenner by the Sea. We have beautiful old redwood trees and a beautiful ocean, cold but with a 4/3 wet suit, booties, gloves and "squid lid" (cap for head) one can surf in the 53 degree water, in the winter. It is just like jumping into a lake on a summers day, for just a moment you are cool, cold, then you immediately warm up and are a normal temperature. Well that's if there is not a cold wind blowing, but that's no good for surfing anyway. We call our place in the county West County, liberal, not too built up, crazy people, educated people, artistic and all sorts of other characters. It's about 1 1/2 hours north of San Francisco. how about you?
