    Topamax in the UK

    Hello,

It was reading about Topamax that brought me here and I am very interested in trying it as it seems to work for a lot of people.

My question is, is Topa available in the UK, is anyone here a brit who has had it prescribed by their doctor?

I hope I an get it via prescription, I don't want to use a dodgy online pharmacy site...

    Hi,
I don't think many GP's in the UK will prescribe topa for drinking, they might do so for migranes tho.
If not why not try River Pharmacy they are not dodgy.RIVER PHARMACY LINK

Gsmum is right I don't think you will get a prescription in the UK unless you privately. I too live in the UK and I really don't think that Roberta Jewell's would let them advertise on this site if they weren't a reputable company

Hope that is of some help

thanks for your help, I am going to the doctors in half an hour to see what I can do. Since I've registered here I have only had 2 AF days...I've tried quitting with the support of my family and friends but it doesn't seem to be enough

          Hi Hovercat,

I'm in the UK too and would be interested in hearing about your experience at the doc's. I told mine that I had a drink problem (and blubbed all over him, which I hated!!!) and he said he didn't believe in medicating alcohol and recommended counselling instead.

I asked him if that was general NHS policy and he said all docs were different and would recommend whatever they thought was appropriate. (I haven't yet been to counselling as the NHS services are completely overstretched in my area).

So how did you get on with yours?

            Snap!

Cried, she told me counselling is the way forward and recommended me to go to ARA, which I tried before and found it inappropriate as it is for people who are really on the skids and have heavier drug addictions (crack heroin etc) than mine, it didn't suit me before and I don't think it will now.

I feel a bit lost now, not that I was depending on her prescribing SOMETHING I thought she would.

So, who here has tried Kudzu?

Haven't heard of ARA but I know what you mean about feeling a bit lost after not being prescribed anything. I was pissed off at the time too because I could have just gone down the counselling route myself without having the drink problem put on my medical records. Ah well, onwards and upwards.

As for Kudzu: it didn't do anything for me but I've seen some people here swear by it.

I would never tell my doc. about my alcohol problem, and know for a fact you will not get topa on prescription. River Pharmacy is good. Way I know what you mean about gp. I contacted the samaritans and they were fantastic, and very confidential, they don't judge and offer counselling.

I went round to supper with my parents last night and didn't drink, I woke up this morning without a headache or nausea, and a full memory of what happened last night. I did not do or say anything embarrassing and I slept all through the night instead of waking every hour and trying to make excuses for my forgetfulness/behaviour the previous night.

                        It feels lovely.

I need to keep this up now

                            Day 5 :-)

No drugs or anything other than proving to that GP I can do it. A switch has been flipped in my head.

This place is helping immensely, I think.
