    does topo cause hypersensitivity?

    I know this warrants further explanation but I don't want to get into what this is might be doing to my domestic life. It does help me control but in the process I can't handle my husband and I'm teary.. Is it less alcohol or the drug. Do I just hate my husband? He's abrasive by nature by I've learned to handle it. He's also a pretty heavy drinker but I don't think it's as much of a problem for him. We probably sound as pathetic as it gets.

    Fran,

    I know I'm just a test group of one, but I'm on topa (currently at 100mg), and I've not found that it's made me hypsersensitve...just helps me control things and moderate well. In fact, so far I haven't really had any ill side effects of note, just a little fatigue at first, but that's gone away.

    How long have you been on? Perhaps if this IS a side effect, it will pass?

      I don't think that is a side effect, but I am not sure. I was on topa for months and all it did to me that was bad was make me stupid. I said things and would wonder why they came out of my mouth. I suggest you check with your Dr. if it is a regular prescrip. if it is form offshore, maybe you should stop using it and see if things change. I did finally change over to campral and had no side effects. It worked great for me. I wish you the best.

        Not sure it this is a help but I am on topa and last night I sobbed at a news article, it was extremly sad but it doesn't normally effect me so much. I too have a hard time (at times)with my partner. But I am trying to concentrate on the relaxing tapes and have just started yoga for relaxation. Good luck

          Can anyone give me some insight as to when the topa kicked in for them? I'm up to week 2 (50 mgs) and so far I don't feel anything -- including reduced cravings. Any feedback would be helpful!

            Thanks for your posts and kind words. I think I'm just emotional now... could be the slow detox. I'm trying to to go AF. I called my doc for anti-anxiety to get me through the next few days. I sent husband and kids away for the long weekend and I'm on my own to just take of 'self. I'm going to give these cd's a shot... I'm just transferring to ipod now. Anyone here try them with topo and follow the program to a "t"?

              I have all the supp and three cd's try to follow it to the T but family committments stop this I have failed a lot but advice here I am now just going for 3 or 4 nights af at a time
