Herbal remedies for smoking
Luka,
I cheated~ still do cheat.
I smoke pot to mellow out,
thereby reducing my nicotine cravings....
OH, I'm JUST KIDDING! :duh:
I take Wellbutrin- have for 8 years. Whenever I've tried to get off of it, the cravings get so intense that I'm ready to kill anything around me, including my favorite little doggy....
My uncle is a drug and alcohol counselor, and he told me that it only takes 8 seconds from the time you light the match to the time your brain says, "AHHH". It is more addictive than cocaine, and the hardest addiction for most people to break....

quitting smoking
hi lukalee
i am in the process of quitting smoking and this is the method im using
i am using the patch and i also bought some herbal cigarettes----honeyrose brand.the patch is used for 10 -12 weeks and you end up at 7mg nicotine per day.that has taken my cravings away and im tapering off nicotine as well.i will at times smoke a herbal cigarette but im finding that there isnt an attachment to them as a source of nicotine.just something to replace the habit.2 weeks so far and no tobacco.
you have to try different ways of course.might work for you might not.

cigs are disgusting yucky I can't believe that they are so addictive.
they stink and make peoples skin gray. yucky.
I have a friend who has been smoke free for the last 4 months. she looks so awesome her skin is glowing.
she just put her foot down and said no more, said it was hard as hell the first 2 weeks.
she said drinking makes it worse, so she quit that too.
She is no fun to be around lately but I think it will pass. she almost bit my head off a couple days ago, but I know this will pass.
she said she has spent $40,000 in cigs and all she got out of it is a nasty cough.
she said licorice helped her cravings but like surfer says it might work for you it might not.
all I have to say is that cigs are ultra disgusting.
cig breath is yucky yuckyYou can't turn a pickle into a cucumber

Whatever you do, be very careful about the Nicorette gum. I developed an allergy that literally ate away the membrane inside my mouth and I lost a great deal of hair and don't know if it will ever come back.

There used to be something called lobeline sulfate that was available OTC. It was supposed to help with nicotine cravings, but a quick Google search seems to indicate that the FDA banned it as a hoax in the early 90's. Guess that's not really very helpful, huh?"uch: When you kick youreslf in the butt, all you get is a sore butt and a tired foot"

Herbals that worked for me
I used a patch called zero nicotine. I found it cheepest on Amazon
I first did the nicotine patches for about 6 weeks, then went to these patches. The nicotine replacement patches made my heart pound and I felt like :bonkers: The other herbal that seemed to help is from native remedies. They have a Rx Hale formula that has skull cap and St Johns wart. They also have a herbal called Triple tonic which is the "short fuse" helper. They also have a craving tonic that was helpful in keeping the food cravings down when you quit. I REALLY love that supplement! They package the 3 together for about 79.00 (? I think it was)
I hate to say it but quitting smoking was harder for me than quitting drinking - and there is nothing light about my drinking problem! But it is well worth it. If you need more info - let me know. I really believe drinking and smoking addition are from the same area of the brain so it makes sense to beat them both at the same time. I LOVED smoking, so if I can do it anyone can. Seriously.
(Ingredients in the zero nico patch: Gotu Kola, Hops, Skullcap, Oat, Peppermint, Ginger Root, Gentian, Myrrh, Safflower, Eucalyptus, Slippery Elm, Licorice Root, Alfalfa, Passion Flower, Sarsaparilla, Bayberry, Echinacea Powder)
Congrats on the desire to win over another addiction!

my first try will be Chantix, although it says don't be depressed. herbal remedies right now will not help me. i am too toxic and need a strong drug to remove this habit. can't breathe well right now and really never was a heavy puffer although lately been doing it up good.

Ripple - I know exactly what you mean. Are you on Topamax? I believe Chantix can help, but the suicide risk is something to consider with Chantix. What have you used to try to quit before? If you are on topa - I would tell your Dr. before you start Chantix. 21 mg nicotine patches helped me get over the physical habit before I ever started with the herbal. I took LOTS of time on the nicotine patches, because the physical addiction is so strong. Everyone is different - so you do what is right for you. Good luck. I'm cheering for you.AF since Jan. 1, 2008 .... It all began right here

Herbal remedies for smoking
I used hypnosis to quit smoking - I was absolutely amazed. I didn't WANT to quit, but it still worked incredibly. The next day was pretty bad physically, but never once did I want to smoke. I went about 6 months smoke free until I, stupidly, thought, "oh, I can have one after supper, or at the bar....".
Anyway, I was genuinely surprised with the results. If you're in the states, a group called Gorayeb does these seminars. The cool thing is that once you go once (it costs around $50), you can go as many more times as you need for free.
