    New guy considering Topamax

In my work, I am involved in some fairly in depth scientific research, computer programming, statistics, and mathematics. Any advice on how this med might affect my work? If I try the med, find I can't work effectively, and discontinue, how long will the negative cognitive effects last?

    Thanks for any help!

I have never used more than 75mg so I'm not the best source. For me, it primarily caused tiredness, but problems were much less pronounced if I increased my dose very gradually (double the recommended time). I don't know if you have gone to the homepage to look up updated info since the book was published but I would recommend that before you make a final decision. I think the 1/2 life of the drug is fairly short and symptoms disappear fairly quickly. Also, you may want to post this in general discussion or need help as this area is not read as often. Oh, forgot to say welcome!
