Hi, I just opted out of this study to see if mementine can reduce the urge to drink.I was on day 5 of taking the drug and had some scary side effects. I think they upped my dosage to 40 mg and I got really dizzy face turned numb and my chest hurt. I felt like I was tripping all day yesterday and called the research guy and he said he would lower the dose. This morning I still feel odd and although I want to get a handle on the drinking and I certainly need the money I dont want to have a heart attack.Yesterday was the first day in years I didnt drink anything due to health fears. I cant even get my words out correctly.Im afraid hes going to call and try and convince me to continue.On day 7 they wanted me to go to the hospital for 24 hours and complete a series of tests and then hook me up to monitors and bring me drinks to see if I wanted them and what the effect was.There has to be a better way!! So long story short I'm on day 2 of no alcohol hoping to continue.I just wanted to warn people about this study. Maybe I'm sensitive to this drug but be wary!

Hi Molly,
I've never heard of that, but it does sound kind of scary. I guess if you are being monitored at a hospital you would be "safe" medically, but I agree, I think I would trust my own instincts too.

I remember you saying you were going to try this. I'm sorry it didn't work out. Do you want to try any of the meds that people here take, like TOPA, etc.? At least you won't be a guinea pig.

Hi, I think I'm going to try the supplements again and really put some effort into it I tried the topa a while back but continued to drink with it Thanks for the post.
