Hi Tiny, sounds like you haven't had any problems to report. Congrats on your 5 days!!!!!
I will wait till about 3pm/4pm tomorrow to take 1/2 tab.
As far as how long to wait, I thought it would have depended on how many units you have recently consumed. I have been told by alcohol counsellors that it takes an hour for 1 unit to have completely left the body. So if the night before you take your tab you drink a strong bottle of wine (13 units) you would leave it at least 13 hours. If you have drunk more than that leave it longer. Tonight I will have probably a bottle and a half of wine. So to be safe, have discussed it with boyfriend and we think 3 or 4pm tomorrow is right.
We are both quite excited. He has said he will do AF with me for as long as it takes.....(yep, he is one of those people that can have a glass or two and stop!!).

Well, I did it. (Waited 13 hours) I forced myself to take the AB. Kept trying to tell myself I could start with Amelia... but now I have no choice, no matter what I can't drink for five days. Haven't decided whether I'm going to stay on it or not... either way, a nice dry-out will be good for me.
It is now evening and I haven't had any side effects from the AB. Though I am sure I will be getting other side effects very soon... that would be called withdrawal!

Well done Bean!!!! Yes I am taking mine this afternoon. I have set my alarm on my phone so that I don't forget. Bit worried about the next week or so sleep wise, but other than that.....really looking forward to being AF.Amelia

Took my first 250mg tablet 3 hours ago and feel fine. It is so nice not to be thinking about booze all the time. Just watching telly and know that I will remember everything I see when I wake up tomorrow!
Great.Amelia

Communion wine and antabuse
Hi there!
I am thinking of taking antabuse and have researched what meds it doesn't go with etc. At church they usually have 'normal' wine rather than blackcurrant to drink.
When I take communion would even a sip of this have a bad reaction? Anyone in the same dilemma?

Hi Evie, I am not sure what a sip of wine would do to be honest....could you ask the priest to have some blackcurrant there for you as you have decided to go alcohol free?
Difficult situation I know....
Day 3 for me on AB. Feeling great.
Hope everyone else is doing ok.

Evie,
I took (brain fade here) a dose of Nyquil when I was in so much pain from my sinus infection. That is 2 tablespoons US or 30 ml, 30% alcohol.
I ended up in incredible pain and anguish. Red eyes, muscle pain all over. It was horrible.
I would NOT take a sip of real communion wine if there is anyway to avoid it.
Tell your priest you are taking a drug that does not allow alcohol. Just to be safe.
Love,

Thanks Tiny. I have been taking 250mg so far, but think I will halve that each day now.
I just wanted to know I had a fair bit in my system to begin with (so as to avoid temptation).
Cindi, yuk, that sounds awful. Enough to put me off experimenting with even a mouthful.

Hi!
thanks for that guys - I think I will have to sort something out as I don't fancy those sorts of reactions (especially at the altar!)

Thank you to all the people who have taken the time on this thread to share your experiences. It has been a tremendous help and I feel comforted to be so informed. I placed my order today from River Pharmacy. Can anyone who has ordered tell me if it actually took 12-16 days to receive?God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers...
