Some topa issues
Just started it again...I tried one dose a while back and was so dizzy the next day I thought I would faint. I decided to try again because I want all the help I can get. I have been taking just 25mgs for 3 days and I have had slurred speech, spacieness, dialated pupuls and word problems, I can't drive...oh yeh, and apparently I am the only person in the world who wants to eat all the time on this stuff. I am kinda freaked out that I am having all this at such a low dose. Don't know what I'm looking for really...trying to decide whether or not to continue...has anyone had such effects at such a low dose that stopped after a few week?

Some topa issues
I know Simey couldn't take it as well. There are a few people here who could not tolerate it.
Hope you find something that works for you. Good luck.:flower: Change a life; make someone feel important. ................. ........................ ..................... ........................ ................. ....... sigpic

Take Topa REALLY easy
Hi Out,
Ive just re-started topa again after a long break for good reasons. This time I am following my friends advice - she is a consultant neurologist and deals with the stuff on a daily basis She recommends going up MUCH more slowly than recommended by this program - ie 25mg every second day for much longer than a week then 25mg then 50mg alternating with 25mg etc. I reached something like 200 last year and realised I needed only about 80-100 for effectiveness so, see how it is for you. The reason I gave up was I had to deal with other major health issues which came up suddenly - had to have orthopaedic surgery (hip replacement at 46yrs of age) so I could not deal with this at the same time. Now I am recovering and need to get back on track and need to loose weight too!
Good luck to us all !

Thanks everyone...
I think I'm gonna persue the kudzu and excercise whole heartedly and see how that goes. The topa will have to wait. I will only try it again if absolutley needed. It was worse than being drunk for me as it was more unpredictable.

Some topa issues
Iam currently at 100 mg of topa, but have the tinglies all the time, and wondering if it is really working to reduce cravings. More important, though, is the cost -- I will need more soon and the last time I got it it was $60 w/insurance.I know, cheaper than AL but still. Also an issue is that I plan to start ADs soon and how much crap do I want to force into my body. I normally do not take anything.
I have not noticed any metallic flavors from canned bevs - I don't drink soda but have been drinking lemon La Croix seltzer water.

Some topa issues
I am taking 100 mg of Topa and it helps me with cravings a lot. I get tingles in my feet every once in a while. Last year when I took it I quit taking it (Topa) after about 8 weeks and was able to have 192 days AF and then tested the water....I really didn't lose any weight and was disappointed. But at the same time I was injured and couldn't exercise like I had been, so it may not have been the Topa.
Now I am on day 9 and on Topa but I've noticed that it blocks the effectiveness of my pain medication so I don't know if I can continue taking it. It is really strange how it blocks the cravings for me. I take supplements, can't take the Kudzu (endometriosis), and listen to the hypno Cd's. So, I'm going to start alternating days to see if that helps.
Stange how one med can have so many different reactions to different body chemistries.
CS04 - I am in the same boat as you regarding cost and co-pay. I think RiverPharmacy is cheaper. I ordered it online before getting a script from my Dr. and the pills are the same (I ordered the 100 mg and chopped them with a pill cutter to titrate up).

Bad topa experience
:new:
Hi - I am reading through the threads and your experience could have been similar to mine -- I dosed up slowly and during the first 2 weeks experienced the slight headachiness, fogginess, hair loss (yes, I added selenium and biotin) but what really got me was that the first day of the third week when I increased to 75 mg I finally realized that my vision had just been steadily declining from this medication. It was a gradual thing, and had I not been looking for it I would have chalked it up to another middle-aginess symptom. But literally: I couldn't focus my eyes the way I needed to in order to see properly -- I felt like I needed a set of glasses (instead of just reading glasses). It was so alarming that I decided to dump the topa immediately. So - I went cold turkey on day 2 of the third week. Now - 24 hours later - my vision is back to normal. I wish I'd been able to continue the topa because when I did all the elements of this program I was having a pretty smooth time with abstinance! However, maybe after two weeks of medication the real physical cravings will have diminished... we'll see. But nothing is worth ruining my eyesight over.

Some topa issues
Hi all. I'm up to 100mg of Topa and am pretty much dealing with just the tingles and headaches if I'm late taking my afternoon dose. It's helped me tremendously with craviings. I've reduced drinking in quanitity, but am going to continue dosing up a bit longer. I had a stronger reaction to the medication in the first few weeks--fatigue, mental fogginess, but that faded after week three.

I took it but had crappy side effects. I dosed up really slow and only got to about 62.5 mg (I cut the 25mg in half). I was irritated and my work suffered. I quit taking it and felt a whole lot better. I am doing the rest of the program and am not af but have many more af days than not. Also, I have not had more then two drinks at one time. I feel awesome and am going 30 days free in September. If you can't tolerate, don't take it. It will make you feel like crap if you are not one of the fortunate ones.....AF since 2/4/10
Nicotine free since 3/31/10
FINALLY FREE
