Antabuse question, need help quickly please

Hi, I have been given antabuse by my doc to start today. However, I have hypothyroid and high liver enzymes (she knows this) I am a bit worried that on here it says it could be dangerous, does anyone know why?

Also, on my medication leaflet it says not to take within 24 hours of last alcoholic drink which was at about 11pm last night, but really want to take before witching hour to stop me drinking as I am out for dinner tonight and too much temptation, I have heard most people say within 12 hours is OK. Any advice?

ditto on dolphin. And I think you only need to wait 24 hours if you had been drinking heavily up until then. Probaly 16 hours is ok if you weren't real drunk 16 hours ago.
Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life... And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

      Drug Information

Dr's are not very clear, just very good at giving drugs as far as I am concerned. You can go to DRUGS dot ORG to see if drugs interfer as well as other information. I always call my Pharmacy and check out the drugs 1st. Dr's say here take this and be happy. Should be against the law. But of couse we have to PAY for the drug 1st. How sick is this.

Antibuse can affect you from 3-9 days later, depends on your system, drugs ect.

          Addugan,
I am sure you have made your decision as to take it or not by now, but I will tell you from my personal experience, that 12 hours was fine. I had absolutely no reactions or weird anything at all.

I am not sure of how much you drink on a regular basis prior either, so I guess that could play into it as well. I think you are totally safe after 24 hours. Antabuse does not tend to react with traces of alcohol left in your system, but rather with consuming alcohol once you have taken Antabuse.

If you have any doubts or concerns, my advice is that it is always best to err on the side of being safe. You could even abstain for a whole year and then try it! LOL.
