I recently started taking 25mg. of Topa that I ordered from a Canadian pharmacy. I'm not taking it under a doctors care. I took it for a week and then did one dose at 50mg. After going to my gynecologist to talk about menopausal issues, she ordered blood work, thyroid test, and lipid test. Needless to say, I stopped taking the Topa. I had researched and found a website that said Topamax can lower your white blood cell count. Well, since I didn't tell my doctor that I ordered a drug from another country to help with my alcohol cravings, I felt that I needed to absolutely get the eight days of Topa out of my system because I didn't want to screw up these blood tests, thyroid tests, and lipid tests that were scheduled. Now I'm nervous that even if I wait two weeks, my tests may not be pure. Does anyone have any idea about what Topamax does in regards to these tests. I don't know why I couldn't just talk to here about my alcohol issue, but I couldn't. Perhaps it shame, or perhaps it's fear of what it could do to my future medical coverage.
I definitely noticed that while I was taking the Topa even after a few days I had less obsessive thoughts about drinking. I'm disappointed that I have to stop taking the Topa, but as soon as I have these tests done, I will start over with 25mg for a week.
If anyone else has taken the Topa without a doctor's care, can you share your experience with me. I would greatly appreciate. Thanks.
Julie
