      Naltrexone

Thank you so very much gyco and marb for your comments - shall look forward to the sleepy side effect!! I am active in AA which is my mainstay, and have been on and off for 15 years, 7 months or so being my most time up sober, and have had that much quite a few times. I live in a pretty small place and am somthing of a "guinea pig" with Naltrex, being the first person where I live who will be taking it. Shall keep posted. Love and light in your lives.

        Naltrexone

Just starting on Naltrexone along with Librium

        Hi all,
I started on this website about a year and a half ago, and tried the supplements, kudzu, etc. Ordered the Topamax overseas because doc would not prescribe it. Well took the Topa as described on this website, got all the way up to 300 mg. Could handle the symtoms pretty well and I tritrated slowly. After a bit, the symptoms went away. Was AF for about two months, then started moderating...well about the past 8 months or so, the moderating was getting to be "DRINKING" again, even taking the Topa. It was like the Topa had stopped working. I have a feeling it was because it was coming from overseas, like India, and it was just not contaiing the right stuff! So right before Christmas (bad time to quit!) I went for 4 days AF, and had HORRIBLE cravings. Really irritable, moody, screamed at my son, horrible to my husband. So went back to drinking that 4th night moderately. Made an appt with chemical dependency docs, and was prescribed Librium and Naltrexone. Was supposed to take the Librium 4 times a day for 3 days. (only prescribed 14 pills). First 2 days took two pills, one around 4pm and another around 8pm.
Next 2 days I've only taken 1 pill around 6:30pm or so. Also taking the naltrexone at same time, half pills for first 4 days, then start taking a full pill. I take this pill right before I go to bed. No side effects.
My question is (had to get the history out first!) has anybody gone this route with both pills? Or just the Nal pill? And felt really tired and kind of out of it the next day? I'm not sure if it is a combo of the two...but the next day, I feel good about not drinking...no cravings the night before, but I am just tired, but not irritable...just feel really mellow I guess is how to describe it.
Anyways sorry for the loooonnnng post, but would like to know other's experiences.
        Thanks,
        Chris
