Strictly Sinclair: Naltrexone Done Right
Christyacc the other formum is thesinclairmethod.com • Index page. There is a new thread there for March starters. PS I told my husband and he decided to join me on the Sinclair method! I am on day 3. Honeymoon is lovely. I have felt so good at work these last two days with no hangover. I know for a fact if I had taken the NAL as prescribed to me (Australia) and remained abstinent it would have already done my head in. The freedom of knowing you can drink and then not wanting to is great. So lets all enjoy the honeymoon before we start to doubt the effectivess in week 2 or 3.

General summary -
I have several posts in this and other Sinclair Threads so many of you may recognize my handle. I don't post here as before. I would like to summarize my experience on TSM.
I was feeling pretty desparate when I started. Things were getting out of control. Ordered book off of web. It was actually the wrong book as the one I saw on TV but that turned out to be a blessing.
Got my MD to give me Nal. Took 25 mg and felt pretty queasy. Drank very little for first few days and had a very long honeymoon in that I was drinking very little for 3 weeks.
Then it started creeping up and I became a little nervous. I seldom drank as before but I was drinking much more than two first couple of weeks. I was also under a lot of stress at work since we were laying off.
I seem to swing up and down on my quantity through the sixth week and questioned the "cure". Began to PM Marbella since she and I were within a week of time. Had one night where I got real drunk like the bad old days. And then it seemed to break like a fever.
For the last week, I am drinking only every second or third night. The loss of desire just seemed to sneak up on me. When I do drink it is normally two and nver more than four. It is not that I am trying to limit myself. I have simply lost the desire. When I do pour myself to drink, I often forget where I placed it since I am drinking it so slow.
Understanding the method, there is no doubt that I will drink to excess again. THAT IS PROBABLY NECESSARY. That is how it works. There are still DRINKING triggers in my brain that must surface and "be drank to" while on Nal to extinguish them. I look forward to finding them. It has to happen or else they are little mine fields waiting to be stepped upon. As long as I am taking Nal, I will not only be protected. I will benefit from driniking.
I only take Nal when I drink. Since I am not drinking everyday, my Nal lasts me much longer. I would imagine a time where a months prescription could last a year. Remember, it is not unusal for non-alcoholics to have less than 30 drinking days a years. My wife drinks less than that.
I just thought I would post this to let others see that it is truly working and how it works.

Thanks Springerrider SO MUCH!!! I had been hoping for someone to post about their experience. I think many learning TSM appreciate it. It's nice to have something to check against once we get to the same place......
Thanks again for sharing!AF July 6 2014

I don't know that I am having this "honeymoon" experience...
I took my Nal an hour before drinking last night but still drank until I was black out drunk...and out of beer. And had a terrible hangover this morning...woke up for work still a little buzzed
Does this mean it is not working for me?
Does everyone have a honeymoon?

Don't worry so much my dear. If you are still drinking to black-out after 3 months, I would be concerned. We have yet to meet anyone that said that it isn't working though I suppose that day will come.
Some people can screw up a wet dream. I just don't think you are one of them.
