I think you should see an addiction specialist. Call before you go to make sure they prescribe these kinds of meds.

Strictly Sinclair: Naltrexone Done Right
I had a questions about Naltrexone. I am basically a binge drinker. For the most part, my al consumption during the week is maybe 1-3 per night. It is on a Friday or Saturday pm that I will usually overdo it (never two big drinking days in a row though, I hate hangovers). So, do I take the Naltrexone on the nights where I am only having one? Sometimes I don't drink for days. Do I have to keep drinking everynight to make it work? Any advice would be appreciated.AF since 2/4/10
Nicotine free since 3/31/10
FINALLY FREE

Hi Shirazgirl,
There is basically only two rules- take it an hour before you feel you are going to drink.
So yes, even on the days when you only have one, take it an hour (or nearly an hour) before.
On the days when you don't think you are going to drink, don't take it. And that is it!
Oh and rule number 2- keep a drinking diary- it only takes 2 minutes a day, but you will need it to gauge your progress, it is too easy to get despondent otherwise...you will still have the odd day when you go over the top, but you should find these get less and less as the months go by.

TSM site is down
The board http://thesinclairmethod.com is down. I can't do anything. I've emailed RV9 but it is Father's Day and I hope he doesn't take time away from that for those (incl. me) of us fiending for a fix.

Thanks, lena for the TSM site update. I really miss it.
I spent a lot of time here today reading about Baclofen. I read that someone has had success with using both Naltrexone and Baclofen concurrently, I don't see why I couldn't also. There are people here who have had success using Baclofen only.
However, I am not willing to give up my Naltrexone and TSM. I have made a commitment and intend to stick to it.

Oh well. I'll have to go back through some old posts to see where I got that idea. Obviously, it was someone else.
Bob
EDIT: I corrected the original post since I can't find any facts to back up my assertion.

Hi Bob - how are you doing ? While the site is down, I think it would be fine to post progress here...I miss reading your daily posts (and everyone elses)
..and I'm glad yesterday was not Father's Day. I read Lena's post last night and thought I had really blown it!

Strictly Sinclair: Naltrexone Done Right
Good Morning -- Sorry about the Father's Day false alarm -- at least I got my procrastinating son prepared for next week. Still no word about the TSM site. I've emailed RV9 but haven't heard anything and don't have access to support myself.
A major difference between TSM and baclofen is that, when those following TSM are cured, we will need to take our med only when we drink. That will range from perhaps twice a week, to only on Christmas, to not at all. Our med (naltrexone) is not psychoactive; continued use simply innoculates our brain from re-establishing the dismantled neural pathways that caused our alcohol addiction.
I prefer not to be taking a fairly high dose of a muscle relaxant three times a day for the rest of my life. I'm tapering off klonipin and my goal is to be rid of all psychoactive drugs. For some, this is not an option, and in that case baclofen sounds like a miraculous way to get alcohol consumption under control. I've been following the baclofen thread and the stories by Bill and others are truly inspirational.
I recall from the My Way Out book that R Jewell tried naltrexone before she found success with topa. Of course, she was using naltrexone the way doctors typically prescribe it: as an anti-craving med. I'm so glad I learned on this board about the Sinclair Method -- the way to use naltrexone for success, according to the science. I know that some (e.g. Evie.Lou) have used naltrexone occasionally with success to put the brakse on a binge. There will always be the individual exceptions to what the science shows.
That's the main reason I feel so blessed to have this board. It's an amazingly rich source of wisdom. By learning and sharing, we each are finding our own Way Out.

Strictly Sinclair: Naltrexone Done Right
Hi H4O!
I was really bummed out, unable to get my daily fix of thesinclairmethod and talk, so I spent a lot of time here yesterday reading and reading and reading.
I didn't sleep well over this weekend (bad dreams and night sweats) and I had a persistent headache that seemed untreatable. Yesterday, was an AF day for me also, so no Naltrexone yesterday. I finally had a good night's sleep last night, so I decided to have a vacation day today. I think I'll do another AF day today too.
I have to reread my posts from yesterday and correct them. I was in a very different state of mind yesterday and posted some inaccurate things.
Bob
In summary - TSM Week 13: 30 units, 2 AF days
