I keep up with you guys every day but just don't feel that I have had much to say since all I do is take my meds and drink my usual. The good part is no hangovers or embarrassing bloopers. Still looking forward to the days that I don't start looking forward to 5 o'clock just to have a drink. I am hoping this works and will be part of the group who is willing to share as I go along. The best to all of you.

Strictly Sinclair: Naltrexone Done Right

Strictly Sinclair: Naltrexone Done Right
Hi, I am newbie here - stumbled on your site last night and was fascinated to read about the Sinclair Method - it sounds amazing. I have been a heavy and persistent drinker for nearly 20 years and am just going into week 3 of yet another detox. Although physically better, I am irritable and besieged by cravings. I have asked my psychiatrist to look into this option and am hoping he will be responsive to something as new as this seems to be. When I started reading, I felt like a lead weight was lifting from me. I hope I can follow those of you who are trying this out.

Hi Shasha and a big welcome!
Like you I have been drinking for decades- I managed to stop for two years, but after restarting 12 years ago, none of my subsequent attempts have lasted.
When I heard about the Sinclair method, I felt like I had discovered the Holy Grail, it was the only method I had read of that really resonated with me, as deep down I felt my habit was a learned behavoir, rather than that there was something fundamentally wrong with me.
Good luck with your psychiatrist- remember even if you have no luck there you can still order the Naltrexone online- some of us are going it alone because we do not have the support of a doctor.

Sinclair is a very good method for detox since you will decrease your consumption gradually and naturally. Good luck with your MD. There is a chapter the book for physicians. You might have him read that. If he goes into liver damadge, tell him it is less harmful than a tylenol.
You may even instruct hiw to tell you, "I do not recommend that you ever drink again but if you do drink, take Naltrexone one hour prior to drinking...bla,bla,bka". That gets him off the hook. The big thing is to get the prescription and get started.
Let us know how it works out and if we can do anything.

Strictly Sinclair: Naltrexone Done Right
I have just talked with my shrink who has been looking at the Sinclair Method on the web. He says he has found no empirical evidence from trials anywhere and so is very reluctant to consider it. I believe that this treatment is used fairly widely in Scandinavia and elsewhere. Does anyone have any links to data that is empirically-based that may convince him that this is a proven method?? I am seeing him tomorrow and would be really, really grateful if anyone has anything that might help. Thanks.

Since so many of us are doing this alone and that Recovery Centers are not enamored by the Sinclair Method ("how do we make money from this?"), empirical data is hard to find. I also would have liked to see dry data sheets of raw data. I have found none.
Join our other forum and start a dialog with RV9, LenaLeed and of course, Dr. Eskapa. They are the brains of this bunch. I just post to entertain the masses.

I love it. It just may work.

Oh well baby steps, eventually the truth will be known and doctors will prescribe it without a fuss, but in the meantime lie, blackmail, do anything- as long as we get it that is the important thing
