Pinkmilk -- Over at http://thesinclairmethod.com, look on th board index for a thread called "Concerned Spouses." There is a letter from Dr. Eskapa and a post from a member. There's a bunch of other stuff to show your husband in the hope that if he understands what you are doing he will come around. Many of us are doing it without the support of family but it's nice when you don't have to. All the best.

Bob3d and happy4once... thank you for your excellent responses to my post. You not only gave me the information I needed, but you delivered a generous helping of hope that I happen to really need right now.
I didn't know about TSM website until I came across all these posts that it was down. (Previously I had looked into sinclair method, control alcohol and drug in a non 12-step outpatient program --which doesn't do much for me!) Thank again Bob3d, I'll definitely visit now that it's back up.

Hi Henrietta - I'm glad you have renewed hope. This process takes a long time but I think it is worth it and as Cindi pointed out, so are all of us!
Please stop by the other forum to read up on how you will progress on the Nal - there is a ton of information.
Many of us will continue to visit MWO too, so if you have questions here, don't be shy about posting - you will get an answer. So glad you are going to give it a try again!

Thanks lenaleed!
I had a look at the letters you recommended.... sorry to say I couldn't show them to my husband, as I have yet to admit to him or even me that I am a so called Alcoholic
I know that sounds pathetic after the way I have been drinking the last 5 and a half years, but in my mind I can just about admit to having a "problem".
But I did end up reading a lot on the Forum over at the Sinclair Site.
Well, second pill tonight coming up, let's see if/what happens....:sigh:
Have a nice day and thanks again!

Pinkmilk -- You mentioned Eskapa's book. In it, at pp. 85-86, he states that you don't have to be an alcoholic to use the Sinclait Method to take advantage of the treatment to stop excessive drinking. Perhaps you could show this to your husband.

Strictly Sinclair: Naltrexone Done Right
Hi Everyone,
Day 5 on the Sinclair Method. I am supersensitive to meds so started off by cutting the pill into about 12mg.....I just took my first 25 tonight. Okay so far. I am charting my progress and check in here everyday. Thought I would post and become a particpant instead of just being outside looking in. Ordered meds online. My Dr. thought I was a wackadoodle when I told her about this program but was willing to give me any other meds on the planet. I don't need valium or xanax or anti depressants, but wanted to give them all to me.
Just by way of information, I don't drink everyday, can manage my drinks ....sometimes :-( but recently decided that I had enough when I threw a glass of wine on my parents in law (I thought it was funny, them, not so much). I like the concept of being reinstated to a pre-addictive state and am willing to do the work. I have been drinking for about 8 years (surprisingly enough, I didn't have my first drink until I was 35). So, I will check in w/ everyone and read everyday. I appreciate everones insights. Haven't noticed a big difference yet but haven't been faced w/ any challenging situation.
Thanks...AF since 2/4/10
Nicotine free since 3/31/10

Hi Shirazgirl - your post really made me laugh. Actually I'm still laughing as I'm trying to type 'wackadoodle'. Great word and exactly how I felt when I went to my doctor...and guess what? She offered me anti-depressants as well. So weird the way they are only programmed to think one way.
Anyway - congrats on getting started! If you need help right away or want to read up just on The Sinclair Method (TSM), there are a bunch of us at thesinclairmethod.com • Index page. I always check back here to see if new people are starting but there is more TSM posting at the other site since that is what it is dedicated to.
Not sure what you have read / haven't read but there is sometimes a honeymoon period that lasts a week or two (sometimes there isn't one) where people dramatically reduce their drinking right away...and then it goes back up. Just telling you so you are prepared if it happens. Don't be alarmed, it's normal.
Glad you are here and thank you for the funny post

Shirazgirl,
Good luck on the Sinclair Method!! I know SpringRider has had great success with it and others here and over at the TSM website.
Um, throwing wine on your parents-in-laws? I'll bet hubby was just a bit upset, too.
Hope you have been forgiven. :-)
Keep us posted. If the Baclofen doesn't work all its magic on me, I am going to add Naltrexone. So, I will be watching to see how you do.
One thing I know is be patient. It takes time.

Thanks guys,
I am going to give this a whirl. I am babysitting for 7 month old twins tonight so there will be no drinking (although I am sure I will want one when I am done) ;-) Yes Cinders, my husband didn't think it was funny either. I'm such a "jewel" sometimes. I think I am forgiven, but it is memories like that that cannot be erased from your mind or other peoples. I will take a look at the other sight for some more information. I have heard of the "honeymoon" period. Has not happened to me, just the normal stuff. Happy Friday.AF since 2/4/10

Is this the current TSM thread?
Hi Everyone,
This is the second time Im trying to post. I don't know what happened before.
I'm new and just finished reading the cure book. It is the first time, I really have hope.
Does anyone get their drugs online without a presription? Is it safe do you think?
I'm 53 and have been drinking since my teens. I've had it with the drinking. I don't drink every day but when I drink, I DRINK.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.:thanks:
