baclofen
LOL Bill.P- as you I am sure know, forums can be difficult places at times...it is easy to misread posts when we can't see the person's expression behind the post, and we have also known people who like to get a bit argumentative at times, but I think Billy is full of good intentions- he is just worried that we might do it wrong and there is nothing wrong with that!!
My experiences today have been quite different from yesterday, I'll write it in my progress thread tomorrow, but I think I have to be a bit better at sticking to my dosage at the right time. I went overnight from Sinclair to this- and on Sinclair I only had to remember to take the meds once a day, and an hour before I thought I would start to drink- this is a bit more of a routine that I will have to set an alarm on my phone to remember.
Can anyone give any insights on how important it is to take the Baclofen at the same time everyday?

Marbella,
I am not a chemist, nor a doctor, BUT my reading has led me to understand that just like the Gabapentin I take, Baclofen is quickly metabolized through the kidneys.
I know I have to take my Gabapentin at pretty much the same times every day and if I don't, I have had break through cluster headaches.
I am hoping that I can swap the Baclofen for the Gabapentin so I am not taking both.
How did you do today? Cravings better, same, etc?
What dosages did you take?
Love,

2) Option 2: Order through an online pharmacy such as 4rx.com. Wait 2 weeks and follow my dosing guide. Read, educate yourself as you go.
Upside: Anonymous and discrete, talking to anyone including a physician is hard for many people and so it may delay getting a lifesaving medication if that is an issue. Downside: Well the only downside is a bit more price and not followed by a physician. Which not being followed by a physician is not that huge b/c most physicians know far less than you will about this treatment after reading this thread and doing research on your own. So they are a bit useless. But, if they do write a script for a high enough dose, it will be much cheaper in the long run and faster to refill a script domestically.
So, if at all possible, I would take Baclofen under the care of a doctor.

I will write more in the progress thread tomorrow, but I have done pretty well- my cravings have been less, but I have felt a bit irritable- I don't know if that is becasue I missed the times I should have taken it- I guess it probably is- tomorrow I will set alarms on my phone.
I took 10mg nearly two hours ago, and now I feel fine- just a bit tired, but then it is 22.30h and i have had a long day...but I do think as you say it is probably quite important to stick to regular times.
So far I am very happy, it will take me a few days to get into my routine- one day I was on Sinclair and without planning I switched, so I guess I need a bit of time to settle into this.
I bought two beers home with me, I have drunk one- I probably will have the second, (like you do) but my cravings were so low, I think if I had taken it at the proper time I might have been able to go without.
Well nevermind, onwards and up, I know in the future to make a proper schedule.

When I got up to go he said "You don't deserve this..." I felt quite choked and wanted to tell him NOBODY deserves this, but I didn't because I couldn't really talk.
I don't want to ask him for the bac as I feel he might refuse (I guess I can still get it anyway, but that is not the point) or think I am just trying any old thing I read about- which I am not, and I know myself and my drinking better than him- he never even suggested tests for the Nal.
However I am monitoring myself very closely for any signs- changes of colour of urine, eyes, etc, and if I notice anything I will go to him straightaway.

Great Info, Bill.P.
I would assume that just like Neurontin (Gabapentin), we need to insure we drink plenty of fluids to insure kidneys stay okay.
However, the fact that our livers are spared is really good news. I was reading that in studies where they were using Baclofen for AL withdrawals rather than diazepams (sp?) ub to cirrhotic patients. It was effective, btw. :-)

I just got an e-mail from my psychiatrist considering Baclofen as an option based on this link and my info about Dr. Amiesen.
I hope I can get an appt this week. OMG, I feel like a little kid today, I am so excited.
Thanks for the info, Bill.P, on the kidney thing. I will feel awesome if I can get off the Neurontin and onto the Baclofen and kill two birds (actually three, since I suffer anxiety so badly) with one medicine.
I told my hubby about it all and he is trying to be supportive but has lived through such hell in the last few years, he is skeptical. I hope we can get our lives back together like you, Bill, and your wife.
I love my husband so much and part of my self-loathing with this disease is that I have allowed it to damage our relationship.
