    Shas's Baclofen Thread

Thanks Shas and Bill. I am clinging to new hope now. All my other efforts have faile miserably - even Antabuse because I cheat on it. Take one on a Monday so that it can be out of my system by Friday. How daft can you get. The obsession-compulsion is just to strong for me. Now I have hope.I don't have a credit card and I'm here in an Eastern country It will have to wait for my vacation back home. Thanks to all you good people who have carried me so often through the horrible anxiety and depression which always follows a binge.

      Shas,

I feel that taking that 30 mg at midday really helped me a lot today.

I am an all day drinker but lunch time is one of my worst times for craving. Once I took the 30 mgs, within an hour I was busily working away at my job and nary a thought of drink until this evening. I ended up taking my evening dose way later than I would normally because I am tied up in a crisis with a client. I think if I had taken my dose around 6 or 7, even the fleeting thoughts would have stayed at bay.

I sure hope this trend keeps up!!

One thing I do know is I am sober today. If I can see this trend for a week or so, I will KNOW it is the Baclofen and not a placebo effect.

Thank you Louise. Please let me know. Cindi said they needed a signature... I assume that means you have to sign for it when it arrives?

Yes. You have to sign when the mail carrier delivers.

So, someone needs to either be home or able to pick it up at the post office.

I am so glad that you are gonna give it a try. I have been screaming the praises of Bac for months and months on this site and finally there is some attention being payed to it. I know that it is as close to a magic pill as i have found and I PRAY that it works for you my friend. The feeling of relief of not HAVING to drink is so incredible. I wish that evryone who still struggles would give it a try. You have nothing to lose and SOOOO much to gain !!!

I believe you only have to sign if you order the expedited shipping (the one you pay more for). People have said its taken about 2 weeks with the regular shipping

Also I ordered some for my mom to try through 4rx and it got denied as my new bank blocks international card purchases as part of their fraud protection. Just had to call up the bank and make an exception. Thats the only thing I can think of as to why it wouldnt go through. They ship worldwide

And I am so glad Evie Lou is here to back me up, I feel a bit like an infomercial for baclofen lol. She was here saying this well before I stumbled along here, then billyb stumbled along as well. Actually we dont stumble anymore thanks to baclofen
It's just been a miracle for me.

I had great luck with 4RX and recommend using them. I got mine from in 9 or 10 days and didn't have to sign anything. the price was alot less than from anyone else that I have used and they were faster than anyone, as well. Maybe they are trying to get on my good side cause I'm sending them so much business .but to tell you the truth I HAVE PUT THEM ON MY "ANGEL LIST" cause I think they are some of the few real GOOD GUYS out there in the world who are trying to help alcoholics recover from this devastating disease. I'm adding them to my Christmas card list too....that's the least I can do..LOL

feeling hopeful 'bout Bac - better than neurontin?

:goodjob: Glad to hear your stories and research about Baclofen, and also about the Sinclair Method. Thanks for your advocacy.

Anxiety -- specifically social anxiety -- crippling shyness, cats-got-my-tongue, and a turbulent 'anger' at myself and others about how I feel & seem always drives me back to drink. Always has.

So ... hoping the ANTI_ANXIETY properties of high-dose Baclofen might help keep me on track? Because it might treat the cravings, and the underlying anxiety.

I'm cautioning myself not to get too excited, because 5 yrs ago I was prescribed Neurotin after treatment, and it just had no noticable effect at all! might as well have been a placebo. Hoping and praying Bac will be more effective.

Time to order it on 4rx.xom -- will let you know how it goes!

                        Puddytat,

I have a cluster headache and eye issue that cause severe pain. I took Neurontin for months and it never did anything for my cravings.

Baclofen is helping a lot. I don't think it is a placebo effect but it may be.

Just as a warning. In my case, relief didn't hit until around 80 mg/ day (divided) and I am still going up. I still do crave but not nearly as bad. and I mean not nearly. I can beat these feelings back.

Good luck. I hope it works for you.

                          Small Glitch

I just did a long post and lost it! Bugger!

Just to give my update about how I am going.

I drank last night......had various reasons or justifications in my mind but that is no excuse. I had NO real strong cravings if you want the truth it was a choice thing. I didn’t keep drinking like I have done in the past and even though I am disappointed I don’t feel it was a failing but just a glitch. I am committed to being AF and am not going to try to moderate.

I had urges yesterday to up my dose of bac but resisted because of blood issues but realise now that I will have to more vigilant. I KNOW this is still going to work for me and I have decided to dose up faster.

I am more tired today as I have gone up to 15mg x 4 and also the effect of bac with alcohol last night.

I will have an INR tomorrow then go up to 20mg x 4 as I will have the weekend to get over it.

You know what got my knickers in a knot?

I always try to make it alright for everybody around me, be it husband, daughters, son or parents.

At the moment I am trying to keep the house tidy so hubby doesn’t get on my case about my daughter & granddaughter staying here.
And am getting frustrated as I realise my daughter and stepdaughter are incredibly untidy!

Have a close and happy time with stepdaughter as she is going to France for 6 months in August and I will miss her.

Keep up with work so hubby doesn’t complain about me spending too much time helping daughter with her problems.

Support my daughter in a way that makes her stronger and more sure of herself.

I am starting to realise I simply cannot be everything to everybody, I am going to slow down and have some time for me.

On the debate about the online companies I found 4rx.com great. I ordered on the Thursday 4th June and it arrived Friday 12th June. I did pay for the faster postage and did have to sign for it so I had it delivered to work so I was sure to get it. No one could tell what I was receiving and I am sure if I wasn’t there someone else could have signed for it.

You know what I am so happy that we are all doing this together! Cindi & Beaches we have struggled for so long and Beatle and all others who are following us I know it will work!

Shas, you are so right and that is such a hard thing to come to terms with...that we can't be everything to everyone. It's difficult to focus on just ourselves but I agree we have to do it. I too drank last night and I have a million different reasons why too. But the reasons really don't matter in the long run. I also am committed to being AF and have titrated up, I think I may have been going a little too slowly. I was still at only 30mg/day.
We can do this for ourselves because we are all worth it!

Cindi, OK that's a relief to hear that Bac helps your cravings tho Neurontin didn't. I sure hope it helps with the cluster headaches, you poor dear! I'm grateful you shared your experience, and feeling ever more hopeful about Baclofen.

                                A Good Day!

                                Morning everybody!

Have a great day last night celebrating my 2 year old grandaughter Skye's birthday.

It was pretty busy as another step daughter with my other grandaughter and my son called in as well.

Was rushing around then realised that I hadn't thought of a drink all night!

Fingers crossed my INR comes back good as I am going up tomorrow to 80mg by way of 20mg x 4. If I am tired I will have the weekend to get over it.

Tonight I am having a party again for Skye with her 2 brothers and my other grandaughter. Hubby is going out so we are having party pies, sausage rolls and icecream.

They are all staying the night so will be hectic but great fun!

                                Have a great weekend!
