The more the merrier Baclofen progress thread

I'm on 2nd day of 10mg four times a day. Not feeling tired, but mild headache much of day and slightly dizzy in pilates class. Feeling better now - not sure if was baclofen, heat, or what. Day 5 AF - no cravings (but no triggers, husband not drinking either).
Glad it is going well for you so far Shelby.

Louise-happy you are having no cravings. I'm not sure if I have cravings or just feel like I need to be drinking. Most days it is the latter.
I'm going to do 10mg TID today and tomorrow and hopefully up it on the 4th. My goal is a sober July. This will be my first sober 4th of July in a long time. We also have a camping trip and a handful of other social activities this month. But, I know as well as everyone else that there is not "easy" time to quit.

Thanks for information, Zen! I finally got the book in yesterday and he has a remarkable story!

Hey all, my baclofen should be here shortly. 4rx.com said two weeks right? im so eager to start. its beeen terrible lately with drinking and i dont have a summer job which is also not good for the no drinking. im so bored righit now. is everyones goal to be AF or moderation? because im wondering i know baclofen takes away the cravings but if it also will allow me to have two glasses of wine here and there and if it gives you the "off" switch ofknowing when to stop. but still enjoying those two glasses. i guess ill have to see but what is everyones goal?

          Me,
I'm not sure what my long term goal is at this point. Right now I'm working on 30 days AF like RJ suggested in her book. I'm honestly hoping that after reaching that 30 days and with the help of Baclofen I will not even feel the need to have the 2 glasses of wine here and there.

Me, PRNmeans "as needed". Zen is saying that she may take an extra dose of Baclofen if she feels it is needed, ie. if she is going to a bar or a social event with alcohol or a keg party (JK!).

Hang in there Shelby - you are still at a very low dose. I keep going back and reading the info posted from the french website that it works for everybody who is committed and takes a high enough dose.

siwan, are you still on vacation? Vacation is a time when it is really easy to give ourselves permission to drink. 2 or 3 drinks is not bad! Hope it gets easier soon. Do you need the 4-5 days at 80 to adjust? Or could you titrate up a little sooner to get rid of the craving faster? (ie, the go up 10mg every 3 days plan)
I'm on day 10 and on the 3rd day of 40mg. Get really tired for about an hour around 5 and need a brief nap. Other than that feeling fine. Tonight there was wine for dinner (It's Friday, it's Shabbat, it's part of a ritual). I did have 1/2 bottle, but when the bottle was gone had NO craving for more. This is good - but I was doing this earlier in the month without baclofen, then the cravings came back and ook over, so I'm still cautious, but very hopeful.

Louise, That's wonderful that you did not crave anymore after a couple of glasses! For me, 2 glasses is the catalyst for 2 bottles. I'm thrilled to see this working for you (and everyone else!).

Siwan-keep me updated on the titration.

Today I am titrating up to 10, 15 and 15. I guess I have given myself permission to fall off the deep end the past few days waiting for this to kick in. What a lousy excuse to drink. I have drank the past 3 nights. I never drink two nights in a row, much less 3. I'm sure I will have some side effects this evening. Hopefully it will be for the last time.

I'm also waiting for my magic number to kick in. I went back to 50/60 mgs this week, but drank at least 2-3 drinks each day. Today I'm up to 80 mgs, and I'd kill for a drink. Promised myself I wouldn't buy any wine and can't find where my husband hid his bourbon!

Gonna try to stay at 80mgs for the next 4-5 days, but I can tell you right now, I'll probably buy a bottle of wine tomorrow. Part of my problem is my total high-strung nature. I want this to work now and I get completely bummed when it doesn't. I know this about myself, but like cravings, I don't seem to be able to control it.

Hang in there, we're in this together.
You might try adding another anti craving med or supp to the Bac. ???
If I were in your shoes that's what I'd try. There is great info on Zenstyles thread to help check for drug interactions.........just a thought !!

                                Hi Bac team,

I am at 120 mgs / day. I do get tired but not too bad.

                                I am AF.

However, part of it is that I truly want to be AF. I did not want for the magic number to kick in before I quit, if you know what I mean.

I do have drinking thoughts but they are not bad and I do not get that God awful craving for alcohol that is almost impossible to ignore.

That said, if I stay here at 120 mgs/day I believe I can stay AF. However, I may go up again in a week or so after this tiredness disappears to see if all thoughts go away.

One good thing, my son was drinking right in front of me last night and I never did have the "Oh, man, I want to sneak one of those!!" So, it definitely IS working. In the past, I would have grabbed one when no one was looking and snarfed it down. Then, of course, I would be in the "I gotta have some more" mode and that is a horrible place to be.

So, I am AF and incredibly happy. But, there is still some work involved, it is just manageable as opposed to unbearable. If you know what I mean.

                                Love,
                                Cindi
