    Consolidated Baclofen Progress Thread

    Cindi,

I love to read your posts.

My depression has lifted because of the new hope (and probably the Bac -- I am at 50mg/day now).

I know we are much alike, and we have been through a lot together -- and experienced dramatic failures (i.e. Lenair) and minor successes.

Now that you have come to that place which we have spent years and tears striving towards, I feel confident I can get there, too.

No wonder my depression has lifted.

Maybe I will get to live a real life, too.

Please keep posting, Cindi, even though you are sober and "cured". A lot of people need the hope you offer.
Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life... And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

        Hi Zen!
I've been on Baclofen for about two months now. I'm not quitting, but I'll never run low again!

          Iam into 2nd week -

          2 little moans.

1/slightly wierd dreams ( weighted against pee'd beds etc I can live with this)
2/ I am being told I am talking too loud. I feel slightly deaf too. (fairly minor in the greater scheme of things)

          MAJOR BENEFIT:

1/ Not drinking. Not wanting to drink. Not feeling anxious

OK it is early days but as a 48 year old who was told at 21 he was alcoholic - this is the first time I have been hopeful and feel something "medical" and sustainable is happening.

But when I titrated down to 80mgs the cravings came back full force. I'm now titrating back up but it looks like I will have to go above 120 this time. I didn't want to scare anyone! Just wanted everyone to be sure that thay have good supply so they do not have to titrate down while waiting for customs (If you ordereing from overseas).
This is a fear of mine - running out - as I am ordering from overseas. To say the postal service here is unreliable is an understatement.

I now have about 9 weeks supply (assuming high rate of 10 mg pills required daily over that period). I have 2 more months worth en route. (The cost per month of Baclofen is roughly equivalent to 3 days of alcohol...)

I do want to find a prescribing Dr here in the UK so that I can get a reliable and non-internet supply happening.

Happy camper on Baclofen right here!

                hoping!

I actually tried to off myself last night, took 60 clonopin on top of drinking, all it made me is feel miserable and almost miss my 7:45 dr appt!! Feel like SHIT right now and deserve it...... Won't do that again!!! Not unless I have better drugs......

Hopefully will get the Bac today, my only hope, feeling really down right now......

                Crossing my fingers.

                  Consolidated Baclofen Progress Thread

                  Hi All,

Just wanted to post something I posted on the Success thread. I ask any "successes" who havent posted on such thread to please do so, and encourage those who are still titrating up (like me) to read reggie's last post on such thread. It gave me great hope. Heres the post:

                  Reggie,

I cant express how positive your post was. I just went up to 135mg today and am still drinking, and getting incredibly pessimistic about whether the Bac will ever work for me. But your post gives me hope.

I weigh 175 pounds, so the equivalent amount of Bac for me would be about 150mg (though not sure it works that way exactly).

But my question to you (and I guess to all other people who have reached the off-switch) is, is it sudden or incremental? I mean, did you slowly start feeling less and less desire to drink, and then at 210 you didnt feel any further cravings? Or did you suddenly feel the extinguishment of cravings at 210?

Also, how long were you at 210 before you hit the "off".

As i said, im at 135, and while i feel a small reduction in cravings, its nothing major.

                  Many thanks to you all.

                      Hi All,

I've been busy and haven't posted in awhile. I'm up to 40mg and will go up 10mg daily. So far still having cravings and am still consuming wine every other day. I'm going to try to get through this week AF. I will keep you posted.

Everything I need is within me!

So I decided to bite the bullet and titrate up faster. I am up to 150 now for the second day. First day it really knocked me on my ass, but am a bit better today. But still no off-switch, as far as I can tell.

                          Consolidated Baclofen Progress Thread

I have been on baclofen for 10 days now up to 40/50 mg a day I feel slighty light headed on it ( I am a small frame 5' 1' and weight 120lbs) and I am very drug sensitive, so cant see me going much higher than 50mg. But here is the thing I just seem to have lost interest in drinking .
I am lucky I dont drink everyday but I am a binge drinker who get nasty on drink and has really bad blackputs so its still a big problem as I quite often had 2/3 binges a week .

I now feel that thinking about having a drink is more like a habit which I am working on overcoming rahter than a constant craving in my mind, not sure that makes sence. And the bac seems to give me opportunity to think sensibly if I want a drink or not and I have had a drink in the last 10 days but again did not trigger the desire to drink till I drop.

So all in all whow this is the first time in 20 years that i feel I am no top of drinking instead of it on top of me ! not sure if this helps anybody, just know that for once this really does do what it says on the tin !

                                Zman,

Remember, I had to get to 160 mg/day to hit my off switch. I am a 5'5" female who is fairly sensitive to meds.

                                Don't get discouraged. Be patient.

The posts of others here really shows me that this stuff can and does work.
