Consolidated Baclofen Progress Thread

Hi all,
I got through my first day on bac. 5 mg. 3x with no problems whatsoever. No nausea nor sleepiness. I usually need to take a .5 adivan to sleep, but avoided doing that because I don't want to mix (sounds familiar!). I had no problem sleeping.

This is day 3 AF for me. About how long do you all feel positive effects from the bac? Do you think this takes weeks as when starting an antidepressant or is it quicker? Thanks!

When you start to feel the effects of the Baclofen, you will probably realize you don't need anything else.

At least that is how it worked for me.

Cindi, you have done so well on Baclofen. Doctors in the uk will not prescribe it, maybe they will in future, they are now prescribing naltrexone, which is not licensed for use in alcoholism. I did mention it to my doctor and he said he would look into it. At the moment I'm doing well on the meds that I'm taking.

Just a quick post to say I on 30 mgs...... Kinds high so holding it there but having ZERO side effects at all...........am waiting for the book by dr Ameison to read up so I do it right.....

I'm up to 80 mg/day - starting 100 mg today. No real side effects so far, no reduced cravings, anxiety might be slightly reduced. Still going up!!

Hi All,

On day 4 at 150mg, and the somnolence is not getting any better. If anything, it may be getting worse. If feel like I have taken a tranquilizer dart in the neck. I think, however, that I may be experiencing some reduction in cravings, but that also may be bc I am so damn tired that I'm even too tired to drink. If this doesnt even out soon, I dont think I can keep it up. Strong cups of coffee are doing nothing. Am trying to find adrafinil, but so far am unsuccessful.

Zman, hang in there. Try not to drink. I don't know this for a fact, but I think the Al negates the effects of the Bac to a certain extent. We are all pulling for you!

Hi all.

I am still AF!!

I am happy with Baclofen.

I was afraid that once I got used to the Baclofen and didn't feel relaxed from it that it would lose its effectiveness. That is not the case. I have no side effects from Baclofen at this point and still don't want to drink.

I also have not had any anxiety for weeks. Another huge plus.

I am at 150 Mg's per day

some somnolence, - not much though and it can be zapped with caffeine pretty easily.

BIG BIG plus - no (absolutely zero) craving and anxiety levels the lowest since I was a teenager.

I was doing great at 50mg. I had a strong thought last night and caved in and had two glasses of wine probably more out of habit. If I would have waited 15 minutes I'm sure I would have been able to get through it. It was just easily accessible. I'm now so disappointed in myself. I'm going to 60mg today. I did make it to day 5 days which is monumental in my eyes. Just got to keep titrating up.
