I havent posted in a while. V Busy and Very well in myself.

No alcohol, no desire or even thought of it - this is a 180 degree switch from s few short weeks ago. I am now at 200 Baclofen. some side effects but the plus side far outweighs any tiny negative.

Anxiety level is at its lowest since early teens.

I'm not sure but I dont think there are many more in my country that know about topiramate. I descovered it through a documentry on discovery tv. I ordered and read the book my way out.I started on the course of topiramate slowly increasing my dosage weekly until I was up to 200mg a day.It has been a truly miraculous experience for me. My cravings have completly disapeared.Emotional triggers that in the past would send me spiralling uncontrollably into a 3 to 6 to 12 month hell binge, I now am in total control of .It is 4 months now that i am AF. I stopped taking the topomax before I had completed the full course because I got to the point where I really fealt like it had done its trick. I feel slightly guilty about this , bacause my parents spent quite a bit of money aquiring it for me. I am afraid that they will not understand why. Have I done the right thing? Is this what you mean by the -off switch-.I"ve been off the drug now for 3 weeks and stll feel in total control.

I'm sorry to hear about the side effects. Whatever you do, please don't stop cold turkey - that can be very dangerous. You need to slowly titrate down.

Others here have had good results with side effects by titrating down to a manageable level for a few weeks, and then going up slowly again.

It sounds incredibly frustrating, but please don't lose hope.

Running out of Bac and placed my order three weeks ago. Titrated back down to 50mg. So, yes I drank wine on Saturday night. I felt really horrible all day Sunday. Just hoping my order arrives soon so that I can titrate back up.

Well Im kind of caught between a rock and a hard place. I dont want to titrate down too fast, but I cant even seem to tolerate a 25mg dose all of a sudden. Two days ago, I was at 165. Yesterday, I just took the 25mg. Today I have taken two 10 mgs. Dont feel great, but dont feel terrible either.

that must be rough, sounds like bad side effects!!! Get your dose back down and see if you can slowly titrate back up..........hope it gets better!

How long do you take Bac for?

Zman, you've come along way with it, don't give up, heart felt wishes to you from across the world. I'm just 2 days on the Bac and I'm just wondering how long everyone takes it for, is it a personal thing, or is there a length of time I should keep taking it after I hit the switch?

BL, phew! That is always sucy a relief. I'm ordering a ridiculous amount, ridiculously far in advance!

I'm up to 130/day. Still getting that jerky thing, but not too bad. It's pretty bad when I'm drinking, though. I'm prepared to go as high as I have to to beat this *()&#()$ thing!!

Okay, I am NOT drinking tonight! My hands are like Mexican jumping beans today, and I'm spaced out and kept jerking awake last night.

I have to make it past the liquor store on the way home...130 mg. bac plus 2/3 magnum of wine is NOT GOOD.

Dr. A says he will be on it forever, but he is at a reduced dose. I'm not sure if you need to be on it forever, though. We can only try and see.

From what I've read, I think it is no problem to titrate down to nothing if you do it slowly.

But, I think it might be a good idea to titrate down a little and then up again VERY slowly.

Dr. A got as high as 270mg five years ago, and now he is down to 30mg.

Perhaps after a number of years you could get all the way down to nothing, but I wouldn't count on it - it's likely you will need at least a minimal dose for the rest of your life if you want to keep the cravings away.

Of course, you can always titrate down to nothing whenever you feel like it - but you will most likely feel your cravings return.

MS patients take baclofen daily for their entire lives. Diabetics take insulin their entire lives. I like to think of baclofen for addicts in those same terms.
