      Mr. Bill,

I would attend your talk if it was close and open to the public. I will look through some back threads, but what is Dr. A's website address?

Everything I need is within me!

I am still wating for my frst batch of Baclofen to arrive. The more I read, the more hope I feel. This thread brings science into the deal which is just what I need.

I have had decades of AA, on and off spree's, anti depressants, antabuse, and various levels of uncontrolled closet drinking.

I have hope and that is a first for a long time.

                Andy,

:welcome: from me, too. I have been exactly like you. I, too, am amazed at Baclofen's help for me. I wake up every morning so glad I am not having to fight so hard to stave off this addiction. Baclofen has been a lifesaver for me.

                Olive,

Wow. Really feels good, doesn't it?

What the brain looks like while craving versus on Baclofen

ok guys, we have a pharmacy and have very little knowledge and are overwhelmed for info. here....its very, very inexpensive, but we've had inundated with questions on doseages for females 123lbs, 150lbs,, guys 175lbs, and , we just don't know, by weight, and other circumstances how to tell them to get a Dr. Rx, and a titration schedule...we're in the US, they have very lil care about Rxing a Rx, that has very lil profit, I mean you can get 500, 10mg tabs for like 40 bucks here!......I'm a long standing member here, and an ex pharmaceutical sales rep.,would like to try it insteand of the white knuncle treatment, and can get it tomorrow, but lets say most of my friends are social drinkers, don't drink much during the week, over-do it on weekends and vacations, feel like utter crap, want to cut back, quit, etc, most need to quit and are professionals too,.....if you are say,123lbs, how do you start out with 10mg pills? And, knowing full well you won't quit cold turkey, like Alan Carr's book says, how do you implement the baclofen, cuz I'm getting mine tomorrow,...no more feeling like dookie when I wake up! I took about 30 mg. of this for a spasmodic neck ache 2 yrs ago, and sure noticed I could care less if I drank or not....thought I just hurt too much.....lol.......how do us smaller gals, wanting no craving, set up a titration sched., so we aren't deadheaded too much to work-out, do the million things we need do, but cut the cravings, and SLEEP.......Come on Doc, how bout a schedule for us under 130 lbs girls that need to work-out, and not sleep????????? My bottle comes tomorrow!

I meant need to work-out out, work, and sleep....lol......can you give us a titration schedule, really low, that we can handle, function, and stlll cut down, mod, and quit, without sleeping all day or running off te road??? I take 20 mg. of prozac, had a ton traumas 6 mos. ago, and an ambien CR to sleep, that's it at 50.....also had 5 yrs of cancer treatment, now just a-ok'd by Johns Hopkins, so I'm ready to conjuer the beast that grabbed be the day they said the "Big C".....I want to wean off, even to 1-2 a day or so, just no binging during stress....I was a pharm sales rep,, married to a pharm. independent owner to date...never abused ANY Rx's.....just too much wine at times, entertaining the Doc's.....lol

What the brain looks like while craving versus on Baclofen

I was so excited about starting, that I see now that I typed too fast, and my brain was thinking faster than my spelling! I didn't want to take the ambien last night, so that I could not have any confusion this morning concerning symptoms. I was wired up last night reading all this. I will start tonight, our drug order hasn't come in yet today, so I won't have it until hubby comes home with it this evening. I have had a Rx for it for a longtime, because of the neck spasm episode, 10mg's. This is a small rural town, and we've had several ask as I mentioned, and the Doc here is willing to Rx it to them, but doesn't know how, and since it is off label use, I thought maybe someone, or Bill, could maybe tell us/me, how to start off very slowly, and should it first be taken at night, so the effects help you sleep, or does it not help so much with sleep, I think Cinders said she takes a dose early enough she can take a sleep aid at night....I'd really like to get off the prozac and not have to take ambien too....I only really needed it during a really stressful period, but I do have trouble sleeping, the baclofen I think will substitute for the prozac, but I don't know whether to start weaning off it, and start the titrating up on the baclofen at the sametime.....when ya'll first started, like Zen, I see she took 15mg a day, for 3 days, so just 1 15mg tab per day? In the morning, at craving times late afternoon, or bedtime? I just really want this to work for myself and others, and I'm afraid I'll mess it up!!!! I re-read Alan Carr's book, and I know that for me, in my mind, I'll have to taper off, to not feel so denied, to not feel so "omg, I can never have a drink again" feeling.....I've done that the past 2 days, waiting to start on the baclofen, so I feel positive about that, and hopeful, that weaning off the wine will be even easier, as soon as I get my plan in place....all thoughts welcomed!

This thread is, IMO, also very useful for those starting out. It is hard for us to answer specifically TIT as we are all having different reactions, ie some sleep great, others have insomnia. For most the sleepiness id for periods during the day, not all day. I had written a much longer answer but it got lost! Sorry, Good luck!
