Yeah .. I eased up to it.. I went too fast too early and felt way off but my body adjusted pretty quick. At this point 60mg definitely makes me mildly floaty, off balance and a bit forgetful.. I made a U-turn tonight just to go to the super target to look for something and by the time I got into the store I had no idea what I was looking for... still don't. I'll take that over shakey hands and craving.

the only side effect that's really troubling is wicked constipation .. hope that's not tmi but it's definitely the Bac doing that.

PF...you are awesome...I feel like we are in similar situations, only I'm a couple of weeks behind you. I can't imagine going to the store, knowing I don't have a stash of AL at home and not thinking about it! Tonight I went to Target and along with everything else I bought a big bottle-o-vodka because I had nothing at home.....and to answer your question NC

I drink the same amount every night while taking bac....feel drunker quicker...but still the same amount. I make sure I don't answer the phone because I've noticed that I remember even less then usual about the night before when taking bac and drinking. I'm up to 60mg today....definitely not indifferent about AL but I have been waiting until later in the evening to give into the craving...

It was refreshing to read PF reply about waiting longer and longer in the night to drink as I've noticed over the last 2 days that I started drinking at 7pm instead of 6pm (tonight not until 9:30 as I was out shopping)...but now it is almost 11pm and I've caught myself up ........I can't wait for the indifference!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW I'm still stuggling with side effects...even when I didn't take my morning dose (I'm trying to take PF advice) and not take bac till later in the day) I still felt weird all day.

Gotta go now as 1.5 vodka drinks and bac has made typing too difficult.

I love being able to say that w/o feeling totally ashamed and shitty to ya'll who I hope will help me turn my life around.

Thank god for the little red squiggly lines under words that tell you when you spelled something wrong or I don't think anybody could've read this post.

I'm just glad my story can help other people since the stories that were already here were what got me to try it. It seems like if you can handle the side effects and just keep going up.. eventually it just clicks. I also had to decide to not drink.. even when the cravings were mostly gone I still drank for a while because I wasn't ready to say goodbye just yet. Then that first AF day in over 3 years... all I did was say "I'm just going to go home instead of to the gas station to pick up beer"... I had a choice in the matter whereas before, I had no choice.

For years I was on auto pilot... like I had no control over the body that was stopping off to buy beer at 6:05pm after work. After that first night 6 days ago it's felt exponentially easier every night since.. Like I said before.. I'm waiting for it to fail... I'm sure it will fail.. but every logical sign I can see says it's working exactly as advertised.. (or rather not advertised).

I'm still baffled by the whole thing.. 17 years of struggling for a choice that a pill has given me in a month or so.

Thanks again to everyone. I am going to be leaving the country in a week or so for 10 days and I think I will wait and start the bac after I get back. I will be with my wife and friends and would not want side effects to mess up the trip.

My plan then is to titrate up very slowly as I have to work, drive, etc. I want to minimize any side effects and think that might be the best way to go, but I don't know that for a fact.
Any experiences you all can share in how fast you titrated and does titrating slowly truly minimizes the side effects?

Once I start, I will keep you all informed. I don't start drinking until after I get home from work, but then just keep going until I pass out. Just can't stop.

I have a question that I hope someone can answer. Does any one brand (i.e. online pharmacy) have less side effects then others (I understand it effects everyone differently...but I'm very curious)? I bought my bac from Inhouse but I think I will buy from 4RX next time. Has anybody noticed different effects from the different pharmacies?

NC...hope to chat more when you get back and start the bac. I started titrating very slowly but I am now getting impatient and I want indifference badly enough right now that I'm titrating more quickly as I just want to stop drinking.

7 days now. It ain't gettin' any harder.

I've only used inhouse and never had any problem with them.. arrives 9-10 after you get notification of it shipping.

today I tried 120mg because I would like to be able to go 1 month on just one 400 pill order from inhouse

20mg @ 1
50mg @ 5
50mg @8:30

drove like a bat out of hell to try to get to a store I needed to before it closed and got there like 2 minutes after they closed.. that pissed me off... I had to get gas and the combination of the pissed off and the gas station I definitely felt the tiniest little pull of the beer cooler. took another 30mg to put me back into 150mg where I've been having consistent success and within a little while the cravings faded back into the woods.

I'll stay at 150 for a while I think.. Tomorrow I'm going to give this a try

50mg 1pm
50mg 4:30pm (ish)
50mg between 7-8pm

so far so good... day 8 finished

I had a horribly stressful day at work yesterday - was worried about losing my job and not being able to pay for my house as of Jan. 1. (We've had some good things happen since then, so not as worried now.) But I really, REALLY wanted to drink. Then I took my 4th dose of bac (still at 200, until my body gets used to it, before I go to 220) and spaced out, like I do, and managed to stay SOBER!!! Unbelievable.

Am I the only one that gets high off this stuff?? Floaty, confused, mellow...sometimes, though, like I've skipped past the pleasant buzz phase directly to the "I've had too much, but I can't stop now" phase of drinking. Especially after the 4th dose of 50 mg in a day - then I'm just sunk. I couldn't even make it off the couch the other day to go to bed. Had to take a 1.5 hour nap on the couch to be able to get up and get the dogs and me to the bedroom. It makes it pretty easy not to drink...but I can't believe nobody else seems to have this reaction.

Not that I'm encouraging people to try to get high off bac, aack!!!

Been reading the backofen threads and I ordered some and have been taking it for almost two weeks. Currently at 60 mg a day. Wondering how quickly I can titrate up....

Larissa, a couple of days it made me soooo sleepy, too! Even though I had stressful deadlines, I just put my head down on my desk a couple of times and dozed.

Cautiously optimistic....but I want my life back!

Larisa, When I first titrate up I get that floaty feeling. I've really enjoyed hearing about your and panda's success. I'm thinking that maybe I should titrate up a little higher. I'm currently at 120-130 and some days the cravings are really bad. I've been on Bac since June and while my drinking has decrease I'm still not AF.

I would imagine I'd be way floaty and whatnot if I was up to 200mg a day. I'm at 150mg a day and many of the side effects have faded or don't bother me enough to notice at this point. The later doses cause more and more balance issues but since I'm used to it I don't mind at all.

SS, I',m going to go up until I hit the switch, if I can...it might work for you too. Honestly, the side effects are bothersome but tolerable so far. The mental fogginess is very weird - I'm floating around work stoned out of my mind. The muscle twitching is worst at the end of the day, when I'm alone, so it's not such a big deal (unless I want to read - it's almost impossible). Other than that, my ribs feel tight (not my chest), and I'm really tired after dose 4. But the worst part is the congestion/cough thing - I snore like crazy - I guess from relaxed muscles, and my nose is draining into my throat constantly, and I wake up coughing violently a few times/night; sometimes have coughing fits during the day too.

I can deal with all of that for awhile, if it gets me to the switch point. It's great to have you guys here. Nobody here knows what I'm going through.

First of all, great job everyone with your Bac successes!

I am wondering if after you have been at a certain level for so long, that the side effects don't bother you. I can take 30mgs at one time and feel like having a nap about 30 mins later!

I also get the crazy snoring! Not so much on the coughing though.....

Hey all. I'm up to 70mg today...started taking 10mg in the morning, 20 around 1pm, 20 around 5pm and 20 around 9pm....This has helped tremendously with the super side effects while at work. I have to take the 10 in the morning just not to feel weird during the day (like now I have withdraw from bac if I don't take it?????) Anyway, at least I'm stable during the day although I still feel high, floaty or just not there. I have this twitchy thing going on with my left eye. I worry that people can see it when I'm talking with them, but I hope not. Still thinking about drinking although if I can do something else to distract myself a bit then I'll forget about it for awhile where before I would think about it non-stop after getting off work until I could take a sip (AKA gulp).

I've been on and off this site for about 1 year....wrote my first post about 3 nights ago. For those who just read and don't post, I suggest you try posting...I'm finding amazing relief coming here and writing!

You all sound wonderful!!! Keep posting, I am titratng up and down, trying to get tweeked to the "right" dose........still doing great though, but since I am unemployed (temporarily hopefully) I am a little worried about running too low on it or out of it(worse) keep on posting your success for all of us!!!!!
