    Hi Tawny.
There will be many others that jump in here and explain it much better than me but here is my take...
Bac is a muscle relaxant that when taken at a high enough dose acts as an anit craving med.
Titrate means to increase the dose slowly.
L glute is an amino acid that acts as an anit craving supplement. It also has many other properties. If you google it you will be able to find out more.
    Hope this helps a bit.....

      baclofen

      Hi Tawny ~
As Startingover said- it is a muscle relaxer. I was prescribed it just a couple of months ago by my doctor for back pain. I have had two back surgeries so I too take narcotic meds.
I had no idea it could be used to stop drinking alcohol! I only took 20 mg and it made me very very sleepy. I found myself almost falling asleep while driving home from work. Ofcourse that could be from taking it along with painkillers! Ha!
I have a few left and this past week have tried taking it and NOT drinking- and I don't know if it's psychological or what but I swear it did help......

That word "titrate" bugs me too. In this context it means "To gradually increase (or decrease) the dose of a drug" while checking for effects, whether wanted or unwanted. It is a word that physicians use so that they don't have to use common words. They learned it when they took (and barely passed) chemistry, where it means "To determine the concentration of a given compound in solution by addition of a liquid reagent of known strength until an endpoint is reached, typically by a change in color."

"Ramp up" seems clearer. The opposite is a "step change," meaning a jump all at once to a higher or lower dose. The rate of change in dose is expressed in units of mg per day change from the day before, i.e. mg/day/day.

As mentioned in another thread, baclofen is much more than a muscle relaxant since it operates on an important neurotransmitter in the central nervous system, NOT directly on muscles.

Make sure you get enough as suddenly stopping is a bad idea..

            I ordered 400 x 10mg tablets and it cost $120AU (So about 70 quid?)

              Tawnywitch,

The others before me (above) have kindly given you the basic information in the simple format you requested. I believe you will find the answers to all of your questions if you actually read the threads here. Yes, it takes a little time, but it will be well worth it.
