    Baclofen and sex

Has anyone noticed that it seems to be the men who get the best anti-alcohol effects from bac, with the least side-effects, when first taking bac, especially tapering up quickly, while women seem to take longer to reap the benefits and suffer more from side-effects?

(And, yes, I'm talking gender here -- sorry to disappoint those of you who may have misconstrued my thread title)

I wonder if there is an important difference.

    Dearest Beatle...

You bring a smile to my face!

For once, I'm going to challenge you: have you kept track of the male / female ratios of people taking bac?

Off the top of my head (and yes, I'm showing stereotypical thinking), I reckon males are bigger risk-takers than women. Hence a propensity to taper up more aggressively, regardless of side-effects.

Females are also more in touch with their bodies & feelings. So its natural that you would pay more attention to how you're feeling.

I actually agree Tip. I think we woman are much more in touch with how we feel all the time.

Tip, I haven't kept track of the ratios, that's why I asked if others had noticed. And I don't disagree with your ideas, which make a lot of sense.

But somehow I still wonder if there really isn't something physical going on -- maybe related to hormones. Also, I think a lot of the women here are either perimenopausal or menopausal, meaning their hormones are already doing some screwy things to their bodies, and maybe the bac somehow interacts with or exacerbates that...? Just some thoughts.

...but I'll leave that to the real scientists to study (if/when they ever get funding to do a study).

            Baclofen and small women

I've seen a few posts from large men about dosages, but I'm a five-foot tall woman and weigh about 113 pounds. The suggested dosages of bac seem really high and scary. I've just received my order and don't really know where to start or how to progress. The initial 2.5 mg 3 times a day seem like a reasonable starting place, but the subsequent doses seem really high. Any small women out there who have figured things out?
