I had a few bad side effects to start with. I would keep waking up in a panic when trying to get to sleep. It went away after about a month. So hopefuly you'll find it gets better soon

I don't seem to be having nearly the side effects I was on the lower dose. In fact, I feel pretty good. I'm usually not sensitive to medication, but I sure seem to be with the Bac. So I figure I'll have to titrate up slowly.

I couldn't take baclofen either. I felt almost drunk, weird huh, even at the lowest level. Just started taking topamax and am loving it.

Topomax did very strange things to me. LOL I am sticking with the Baclofen and am also taking the Vivitrol shot. So far, so good!

I'm at my wits end!!! I'm off the Bac and the bingeing is back. It's just so hard. I can't handle the Bac side effects, but I have to do something. I don't want to drink anymore, so I'm not patient enough for the sinclair method. I know I need to white knuckle through the first week or so...so that's the plan right now. I'll just have to go back to fighting one day at a time. My personal life feels like it is spinning out of control and I end up looking for that escape.

I really envy the ones that have made it....it must give you a wonderful "peace of mind" not to be suffering daily.

Bright, have you tried really really really small doses of the bac... 5mg 3xday, for example? If you are planning to white knuckle it anyway, I think even a tiny bit of bac will make it easier... just take the edge off the extreme discomfort. Just a thought.

That's what I was thinking try a lower dose. Just to get through a few days. I'm lucky I have had few side effects but to me anything is better than a hangover/W/D.

I am only taking 15mg a day and am having extreme fatigue, pins and needles in my face, hands, and feet. I am not sure what to do. I cannot take the Topa. The side effects were too much.

One person I know of (who isn't a poster on the meds threads) took as little as 2.5mg 3 x per day to start with. Just titrate SLOWLY.

I sooo understand what you are going through. I started at 10mg X3 a day = 30mg total, and could NOT handle it. I was so loopy I couldn't drive or think straight. So my doctor lowered my dose to
5mg. X 3 = 15mg a day. I am having some side-effects on the lower dose but nothing like I was having. My doctor said he would titrate up very SLOWLY with me. I did not tolerate Topamax well at all! I just had to quit taking that.

Also, Naltrexone works really well in that it blocks the receptors in your brain and you just can't get drunk, so that horrible remorse is removed somewhat. I was frustrated on it because I wanted to be entirely AF.

I also take the Vivitrol shot with the Baclofen and it seems to be doing the job. I have only drank twice this month as opposed to everyday the last few months. It is working. The Vivitrol shot seems to work really well with me, but if your insurance won't pay for it, you're kinda screwed. It's $800.00 a shot. With my insurance I only pay $2.00.

Anyway, I just wanted to throw out some options for you.

My counselor was a great help to me. He told me to "Hold on and have patience," when I was at my wits end.

Hugs, Brite!!! Sorry about all the side effects everyone has, I usually have horrible side effects w/ everything, but am really lucky w/ the bac!! Or I am on placebos?!!?
