    Naltrexone.. Just starting out

I have just started this drug today and have read many posts.I have also learnt lots about how the sinclair method works. It does make a whole lot of sense,so I am hoping for big things. How long does it take for the drug to start to take affect? My GP advises that after 14 days my drinking just wont give me the same affect. Thank you all for your posts, I have learnt so much about this drug in only a few short hours!!:thanks:

Hey boozer, you should make your way over to the TSM boards at thesinclairmethod.com • Index page. There you can read about a lot of experiences and really get a feel for what's involved.

TSM works and you will feel that alcohol doesn't have the same effect on you almost immediately, but the actual method takes much longer to really take hold. I've seen one person be cured in six weeks but most of us find it takes 4 months or longer.

I started last Wed. I do feel different on Nal but it's a hard to explain different . Don't forget that there is often what is called a honeymoon period when you first start Nal - that is when your drinking may go way down, almost like a false cure. It may go way back up again after that but don't give up. TSM cure takes weeks and months for many. I have such faith in this treatment that I think 9 months is my ball park timeframe before I start to get concerned that I may be in the 20% that it doesn't work for.

So great to see familiar "faces" on this board. I don't care if you take Nal or Bac or MWO protocol or AA or............. whatever works, whatever it takes - we are all here for the same reason.
