    My Naltrexone Journey

I come here every so often to read about anyone taking Naltrexone.

    Thanks for bumping this DiscoBunnie.

I drank like I usually do on December 26th. December 27th I took half a 50mg Naltrexone, as recommended by my Doctor. I felt a little, tiny buzz but didn't drink. After three days, I started with the whole pill. I haven't drank since. No side effects except good ones. I have tons of energy. I'm totally AF. My husband still drinks in front of me and I've been to bars and have no desire to drink. I drink club soda and lemon.

After reading a lot about TSM, IN MY OPINION, I do not agree with it. He says to take one before you drink. I don't believe you should drink at all while taking Naltrexone.

My Doctor has given Naltrexone to anorexics and heroin addicts and it's worked for them. I know that Naltrexone also works for about 50% of those who take it, most of them women. I've researched this pretty well, both on my own and through some links posted in this forum.

I wish everyone could feel like I do. Like a new person. I say try it, it could work for you.

    Good luck eveyone.

      My Naltrexone Journey

      thanks crown!

I read many of your posts... when time permits I would like to go start to finish through your journey. Congrats to you!

A couple of questions. How long on the nal before it works? 1st pill?

I have abstained for a little over a year, but much like most alcoholics, I know one beer means disaster. This sounds like it makes such an opportunity nearly impossible.

Any thoughts/comments/feedback greatly appreciated. Thanks again for all of your efforts.

Cicsowhiz, if you're talking to me......it started with the very first 1/2 pill. I haven't wanted a drink since. Sometimes I *think* I want to drink, but it seems to leave my mind immediately. It's a habit, I think.

I know it sounds like a miracle, and for me, that's what I call it. I only wish someone had given this to me sooner. I've been to psychiatrists since the 70s and the Doctor I have now suggested the Naltrexone. I totally agreed after having read some stuff about it here. She did not mention any of the other drugs that y'all talk about on here. I will ask her about them when I see her next. She specializes in addictions.

Opps, just noticed your question was to Crown, but that's my two cents.

          My Naltrexone Journey

Can someone tell me how much and the best time to take Naltrexone? I just cut-split a 50mg yesterday evening and took my first ever 25mg of it. Then right before bed I took the remaining 25mg that was in the pill cutter. Weird for me but I left half the bottle of wine in fridge untouched -- Normally I would have drunk everything available around me.

Feeling a little groggy today but that could be a variety of things.

There you go Alexan! It sounds like it may work for you.

I take mine every day at 5pm. I take 50mg, which is the recommended dose. HTH.
