    My Naltrexone Journey

Thanks for the encouragement Crown! I was AF last night. I've had two glasses of white wine tonight and I not sure if I want another. I did exercise tonight...which I think is key. I'm about to eat something so I probably won't drink much more. Glad you are doing well and helping many...spreading the word. Although the treatment is somewhat a crap shoot...or subjective to various factors because everyone is different...physically, mentally, biologically...how much you drink, what you drink, how often...etc...

I wish I had a computer program that you could put all those factors in and come up with the perfect plan for whoever needs the treatment. It is always a combination of various things that need to be addressed and no two people are exactly the same...I'm thinking.

    I'll keep you posted.

Welcome snowball and I wish you success with TSM. For most it takes awhile. Crown was an exception in his extinction timeframe. I hear that doesn't happen too often and for most people practicing TSM it takes at least 4 to 6 months.

Keep posting....tell us a little more about yourself.

yeah that would be some program...I agree treatment is not a one size fits all. On a positive note...it seems on the TSM board MD's are becoming more and more receptive to treating alcoholism with medication. It apears that a lot of people just coming to the board are reporting they had no issues getting a perscription. Me personally, I am glad I went the online route to avoid having alcoholism on my medical records which some reported as a major problem with life and health insurance and one poster his driver's liscence even though he had no DWI's no arressts no anything.

I have done Sinclair method for almost 2 years and I have to say it is truly a way out for many people. Maybe not all. But the medication is very helpful. One also has to watch the company they keep and what they think psychologically. It is still work but it worked for me.

                      Snowball and Funny Girl,

You can read all about the method on the TSM board.

In a nutshell, you take one Nal one hour before drinking and it locks up the "pleasure receptors" in your brain. Therefore eventually your brain is rewired to not even care about the alcohol. It may take 4 to 6 months, but a few have been "cured" in less time. Best of luck.

                        New trend habit devoloping.

This is begining to happen automatically now for me which is awsome and has been effortless. I had been hanging on to beer but like I have said in other posts in is not tasting so good the majority of the time and the times it does I never have more than 3-4 and I NEVER get drunk or even buzzed...yes always taking the pill with them.

The new trend is everyday after work I have been dead exhausted and my usual habit would be to always a cocktail to unwind...recently it was a beer or two...now it's come home and COMPLETELY forget about alcohol/beer have dinner and Coke. I didn't think about beers when I left work, had no intention of drinking, so I never had the need to take Naltrexone.

I FIRMLY beleive for myself this is the re-wiring the TSM method talks about. It is even better than I could have ever imagined and not even CLOSE to what I thought the end result of TSM would be. Damn merry christmas to me.

I know to some of the newer people reading this I might sound like a social drinker...LOL..But I can assure you I was a whiskey soaked drunk amongst drunks. You can read about of that part of my life under the my story section for just a few of the fun and drunken details.

Can I ask a quick Q: how long does the "honeymoon' usually lasts on average?

I am a bad one to ask because my experience was a honeymoon that never stopped. From what I read from others it seems like a week or two but not sure. But the honeymoon is a good sign that it will work for you based on other's experiences.

I had a big nite on friday...LOL I freaking love it now...lol huge night 5 beers started the 6th and couldn't drink it. I had some friends from out of town stop by and they wanted to party. I popped my pill an hour before they got there so I could be social. They were having mixed drinks beers shots...the party went on quite late. I passed on all mixed and all rounds of shots with ease...I was not going to puke again on a shot...LOL puking sober is no damn fun and it seems to happen on 1-2 shots so I simply wont drink them. HUGE 180 turn for me as all I ever drank was straight alcohol. I got crazy and exceeded my self imposed limit of 3..beer 4 got me buzzed...beer five higher but not in a fun way beer 6 was making me sick. LOL I had bed spins..LOL on 6 freaking beers. I woke up saturday feeling like crap..again I cant beleive I had a hangover on five beers. I could have easily stopped on 3 but by CHOICE decided to have numbers 4 and 5...almost to see what will happen now...like testing Nal and TSM...It came thru with flying colors...I HAVE ZERO FEAR OF ALCOHOL NOW. I went to bed buzzed but not drunk, could remember everything in the am, and truly did not enjoy being buzzed..it made me a hair sick.

Hung out with the same crew on Saturday and they were in full tilt hair of the dog party mode...LOL me I could have been the designated driver. I had 2 beers in a 6 hour period and drank cokes the rest of the time with ease...I'll be dammed if I was going to feel like **** again for no reason..meaning the buzz is no fun anymore and for that I am greatful not regretful in the least. I felt zero pressure to drink even being egged on all night to just break down and have a few...LOL I was like nope I'm fine you have fun buddy. they tried hard..what ya on health kick? little girl, blah blah blah..LOL I didn't care one bit and had a great time and never felt pressured or alienated or "different". Damn it's nice to have a TRUE power of choice, all thanks to TSM. I never felt I had to "breakdown" like in the past without TSM and Nal...back then if I broke down the floodgates were open...Nal is a solid heavily fortified dam.

starting to think maybe this what a normal drinker is...have no idea because I never was one

Sad note to add a very good friend of mine's sister was just hospitalized for alcoholism. She is almost comatose in ICU. My friends sister lives about 9 hours away from her family...the family just found out. The doctors are saying complete liver faliure, kiddney failure, wet brain, pnemonia and are not sure if she will make it. The girl weighed 165lbs prior and is now down to 80lbs. One of her sister got there to visit her and was in shock at her condition and her sister is almost comatose and didn't recognize her. My friend is leaving asap to go visit her. The doctors said it is 100% alcohol no other drugs in her system. She is 48 years old

I think there but the grace of God go I.
