    Which one , guys?

As an ex-drug addict with a natural aversion to popping pills, what do I go for here? I'm fed up of failing at sobriety. I go for weeks on end when I'm clean and the smallest thing pushes me over the edge.

Your thoughts would be appreciated. I'm well aware that none are a magic button.

Five reads and no replies. Come on, you must have an opinion?

      I've only tried Baclofen, Hartley.

I cannot offer you a comparison between the various meds.

You also need to decide how you would like to approach the whole meds issue: are you're going to do it under medical supervision? Self-medicate?

I suggest you read as much as you can on the meds threads and post questions on threads dedicated to specific meds.

I'll bump a few related to Baclofen in particular for you to look at.

Hartley, I am new. But I will answer. I have been a practicing alcoholic for the last 30 years. I have never taken drugs, but I too have an aversion to any form of drug. Except alcohol. All I can suggest to you is read up on what each drug does. I am reluctant to take any of them, except Campral. I am considering that because it is tested and approved. But then again, I am a bit of a woos.

Of course I'm not going to do it under medical supervision. That's a no no over here.

          Did it work for you?

Hartly, what sort of plan are you following in general? Exercise, supps?, what tools do you try when you come up against a trigger, etc?

Yes, Hartley. It worked for me (and still is), along with other tools (see the Tool Box thread in the Monthly Abstinence Forum) and the support I got and still get on MWO. I've been AF since 21 August 2009.

Best of luck to you, regardless of which option you decide on

I've got no "tools" - I've got no "plan"

My very being shakes at that rubbish - if that makes sense to you.

                I don't mean that in a bad way - it's just me.

I wasn't clear what you wanted. Actually I'm still not. You don't want to take pills, and don't seem to want a plan or use tools, so could you be a bit more specific about what you do want? I suppose AA is out.

I'm so unclear. I just want rid. People like you can obviously use a plan and tools. People like me just don't get that and yet we're still the ones that everybody likes!

By the way, I hate AA!

I'm thoroughly confused. You don't know what you want yet are upset when people aren't providing you with answers?

Having tools, goals and plans is not rubbish. If there was one pill we could pop and be rid of this no one would be here.

Baclofen has helped me stay sober BUT a helluva lot of work went into getting sober.

Good luck then Hartley. Maybe whatever worked for you to become an ex-drug addict will help you quit drinkiing.

Why the crap smilie? I worked fucking hard to remove a habit. I can't seem to remove this one.

                          Go stuff your self-rightousness.

Heartly, please place your mouse indicator over the "crap smile" in the smilies box to the right of the reply box. You will see it is identified as "confused". In all sincerity, I cannot fathom how you can identify yourself as one of "the ones everybody likes" with an attitude like the one you are presenting on this thread.
