    panic attacks

ThirdMan, Boss.man, beetle, Cinders your posts have been very helpful! Many thanks for this!

    To summarize this :
    -I will get L-Theanine ... 2-3 times a day ? 200mg
    -exercise 5 times a week
    -breathing exercise
    -hourly mediation (for 30 seconds)
-Long shower, reading something entertaining, no emails, no tv shows, no mystery movies
    -CBT (what is that?)
-laugh at your body for overreacting - you have survived that before!

I used to exercise almost each day a week - especially swimming, but then because of the catheter that I had and then the sucidical thoughts that scared the crap out of me, I considered it inappropriate to go swimming. I will re-commence that today.

I suffered quite some changes the last weeks. It seems that about ANY medicine reacts totally different without alcohol! Or Baclofen changes my reaction to medicine - I do not know!

First I reacted in a very odd way to an antibiotic that prevented me from urinating and then it seems the dose of pseudoephedrine that I took also for some weeks suddenly caused suicidal thoughts. I guess you see the pattern - what worked before suddenly really causes problems to me.

Baclofen on increase of dose seems to be anxiety relieving for me. In fact it gets that relieving that the normal fear mechanism is gone too! But I can not keep on increasing Baclofen unlimited :H

      Hi craving,

CBT is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, which has a wide range of application. An excellent online resource is provided by one of the UK's leading CBT practitioners, Dr Chris Williams. His website can be found here:

I really did not get that connection before. I have to ban Coffeine now.

          panic attacks

I love the holistic approach to panic attacks. CBT teaches the skills needed to manage panic attacks. Medication and supplements help change the biological components. So does diet. It takes time to get your body back on track after years of alcohol use.

I failed to mention an extremely effective way to handle anxiety/panic attacks.

You don't need to go to a therapist for this, although it will make things easier if you do.

I am talking about tapping and EFT (they are not the same, but related). Both can be learned on your own, using books and the internet (there are lots of videos walking you through EFT).

Although these seem like hocus pocus, and were a turn-off to me, as a "mental" thing, I tried it anyway, and the PHYSICAL response was amazing.

It's not about delving into your issues or achieving some kind of nirvana. It's a very simple method of tapping to relieve physical symptoms of panic/stress attacks.

I rarely use these techniques anymore (but I should), not sure why.
Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life... And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

I already ordered books for EFT a week ago.
I tried this : Get rid of stuffed or running nose without drugs - Parapsychology articles and blog and it was so amazing that this "hocus pocus" actually worked. I used to take medicine to keep my nose open and this has done the trick.

Since then I want to learn more about EFT. These things really work! :l

Yesterday was a lot better than the other days. Was swimming for 30 minutes and stopped caffeine. I guess for now that did the trick!

Thank you all for all the great advises! It really helped :thanks:

                panic attacks

                Craving,

I'm so glad I found this thread. I have experienced severe anxiety for over 10 years, but I had never had a panic attack. After I had been on baclofen for two and a half months I had my first panic attack, and ended up in the emergency room. Over the next two months they increased in frequency until they were almost daily.

I finally decided to stop the baclofen, and the panic attacks ceased. After a month off baclofen I decided to try it again, to see what would happen. That was two weeks ago. Yesterday, after a month of peace, I had a panic attack again. I feel it has to be the baclofen.

The way you describe your fear is exactly what I experience.

Where do you get your baclofen from? I ordered mine from Inhouse Pharmacy. I wonder if there is a chance that the pills could be contaminated. That's probably just wishful thinking because I love that I don't obsess about alcohol, or care about it, when I take bac.

I am going to keep experimenting with different dosages to see what does what.

My dosage has been 200 mg.

                    panic attacks

                    blue,

I used to take 250mg - but I have reduced that, and looking forward to reduce below 100mg - if possible.

I get Lioresal from local licensed pharmacies - so there is no chance they could be contaminated.

Not sure if it was the Baclofen ... It could have been my Pseudoephedrine overdose or my reduction in Bupropion.

For now I am at 175mg Baclofen a day. I was under the impression I could stop with Bupropion because of Baclofen, and reduced the dose to 1 pill (150mg) a day - Now I take 450mg Bupropion a day - and it took about 1 week to have my panic solved - about the time that is required for Bupropion to kick in.

I think for me it was the Bupropion withdrawal - I might still have light psychosis - but not frightening panic as before.

My plan for now is to reduce the Baclofen every 4 days by 12.5mg - and in a month I should reach below 100mg. Then after I am stable with my Baclofen, and my panic is still under control I want to start to reduce again slowly Bupropion - first to 300mg ... and then stay there for some time. Then once I feel able I will give it another try to go down to 150mg ... if I get panic again, then it was definately the Bupropion, and then I really need to seek medical advise.

I find at my higher dose I have felt panicky a few times. I managed to calm myself with distractions--petting my cat has worked wonders.

On the increase I felt no fear - even drove like an insane without thinking of any consequences.
I did not fell asleep beside if I wanted.

But then on keeping a dose or reducing it, I think it can make a negative effect - especially after the euphory on the higher doses!

For now my Panic is under control - and I hope it stays that way! Now only changing one medicament dose at one time - as I really want to find out what caused this.

In no way do I want to get off Baclofen. It has helped me soooo much.

                          Craving...

"I used to take 250mg - but I have reduced that, and looking forward to reduce below 100mg - if possible."

I originally reached my switch at 130mg (was AF easily for 3.5 months)...then I gradually went down to 60mg...and then went off the rails. I have since been back at 130 and came good...but then came back down to 80 and not so good/bad.

Maybe we concentrate too much on the "switch" (which is fantastic for those able to get that far) - for me its getting the mainenance dose right. Take it slowwer on the way down I reckon.

I have come to the conclusion that 100mg is where I have to stay.

                          PS...Kava is great...Phenibut arrives soon.

                          PSS...interesting article:

"Could there be a pill to help them?"
